Our boy, Walker, has had a hard time finding the right family that will give him ample time and unconditional love to build the trust he so strongly needs to be the best boy that we know he can be. He would benefit from a home with an experienced owner who has worked with food and toy aggression. An owner that is confident and who can set clear boundaries with him. Walker has a significant bite history as a result of these resource guarding behaviors but these bites occurred when he was newly in the home. Evidence that trust is absolutely paramount with him to open up and not react first with a negative response.

Walker is very affectionate once trust is established. He is also able to give up his toys when he has absolute trust in you as witnessed with a couple of his favorite volunteer friends. Walker’s food aggression will probably be something that a future family will have to respect but having his own area to eat is not difficult to manage. Walker is a special boy and we are looking for a special home that will give him all the time and space he needs to establish trust and show the fun, affectionate, beautiful boy that he is!

***If adopted, Walker will come with a six session training package to successfully transition to home life.***

This dog requires an adopter to come out to the rescue three times in order to build up trust and form a bond with this dog before going home. Please talk to your adoption coordinator regarding the behaviors we have been working with this particular dog and the training techniques we have seen improvement with. We will also need the name and number of the trainer you plan on using before they will go home.
