Virginia (Ginni) Mae's Story
Meet Virginia “Ginni” Mae

Virginia, or Ginni Mae as her foster family calls her, is a precious 4-year-old Bichon weighing about 20
pounds. With her soft white and cream curly coat, sweet eyes, and adorable little lamb-like appearance, she is pretty hard to resist!

Ginni came to Dogworks after spending her life as a former mill dog, and she is now learning what it means to be loved, spoiled, and part of a family. She is a gentle, quiet little girl who absolutely craves love and attention. Give her a comfy bed or couch and a pair of loving arms, and Ginni is one happy girl. She loves to snuggle, enjoys being petted, and even likes watching TV with her people.

When meeting new people, Ginni is very friendly but may take a moment to approach because she can be a little cautious at first. Once she realizes you are there to give her love, her sweet personality shines through. Her soulful eyes seem to melt your heart!

Ginni gets along well with other dogs and can live with cats and children. She does have one little rule when it comes to her bones—she prefers not to share and may give a growl if another dog tries to take one. Otherwise, she is a very easygoing companion. She is calm during the day, enjoys going for walks, and is happiest simply staying close to her people.

Ginni is crate trained and is doing well learning her basic commands, including sit, down, stay, come, no, and off. She responds well to verbal correction and is a very good listener. She is also continuing to work on her potty training. She will use pee pads, and if her foster catches her having an accident, she will stop when corrected. Her foster family feels she is making great progress and shouldn’t need much longer to become fully potty trained.

Ginni is not a runner and is currently enjoying a yard without a fence, but a securely fenced yard is required for her adoptive home. She is also still learning to walk on a leash.

One thing Ginni isn’t particularly fond of is having medicine given or having her ears cleaned. When she’s uncomfortable or afraid, she may hide. She is clever enough to figure out how to hide a pill, but she’s also cooperative enough to take it when her foster places it directly in her mouth.

Ginni is looking for someone who will give her the patience, love, and security she may not have had earlier in life. In return, she will give you something pretty special—a quiet little shadow who wants nothing more than to be beside you, curled up on the couch, soaking up every bit of love you have to give.

Ginni Mae’s perfect home is one where she can finally be someone’s cherished companion.

Spay appointment: September 15
Age: 4 years
Weight: 22 lbs
Breed: Bichon Frise
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Yes
Good with children: Yes
Crate trained: Yes
Potty trained: In training
Fenced yard required: Yes
Grooming needs: High

Her adoption fee is $350

If you feel, Ginni would be a perfect fit, please fill out the adoption application below.
