Violet V (SC)'s Story
Sweet Violet V is a 13-year-old senior rattie with an adorable face that melts hearts! She
is a quiet girl who rarely barks.

She is fully house-trained and will let you know when
she needs to go outside by standing at the front door. Violet gets along well with her
three canine siblings although she doesn't show much interest in play. She is also
friendly with new visitors. She sleeps through the night in her dog bed next to her foster
parents.

Violet displays a somewhat nonchalant personality and is content to just stand or
meander about the house in an unconcerned way. She enjoys being in the same room
with her people and likes being picked up and cuddled for short periods of time. She
loves getting any kind of treats! She's still figuring out
whether she likes being a lapdog.

She sits nicely on your lap for one or two minutes, gives your face a few kisses, but then
she gets very squirmy!

Violet loves spending time outside and enjoys leisurely walks or wandering around her
fenced-in backyard. She walks beautifully on a leash. Indoors, because of her poor
eyesight, she cannot go up or down stairs.

Like most senior dogs, Violet has her share of medical issues. She is nearly deaf and
may react to very loud sounds like clapping or barking, but otherwise she cannot hear
anything, including voices. She also has very poor vision in both eyes due to a
combination of advanced cataracts and a mild corneal opacity in her right eye. She is
able to navigate familiar surroundings, including inside the house and a small enclosed
side yard, by using her sense of touch and limited eyesight.

Violet has recently been diagnosed with a seizure disorder and has had several
seizures over the past six months. Each seizure last only about 15 seconds and
consists of her body becoming rigid and two or three yelps. Afterwards, she might be
somewhat lethargic for about 10 minutes. Although these seizures are a little bit
unsettling to witness, she always bounces right back afterwards with no lingering side
effects.

Because of her various medical issues, Violet gets two different kinds of seizure
medications ($60/month), a prescription eye ointment twice a day ($70/month), and an
arthritis medication once a day ($45.00/month).

Violet is a special senior girl who is looking for a calm, caring home where she can
spend her golden years.
