Vinny's Story

Vinny is a 7-year-old Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix. He weighs 17 pounds with very soft, black curly hair.
Vinny lived with his original owners in San Francisco until he was 5-years old. When the couple divorced and he was left at a shelter, Vinny was adopted by an elderly couple in Santa Cruz.
As Vinny came to trust his new humans, his sweet and playful side began to shine! The couple loved him very much, but due to their age and health concerns, they decided that the best thing for Vinny is to find a new, forever home.
Vinny is currently in a wonderful foster home where he continues to blossom into his natural self - the very sweet and special dog he is.
He loves riding in the car. His leash skills were a bit rusty but with some good treats and praise, he’s coming along. He is a mellow guy who loves to play with his toys and gets the “zoomies” from time to time.
He knows basic commands and loves showing off. It takes Vinny some time to completely trust, but once he does, he will follow you anywhere. He likes to snuggle in at night, putting his head on your lap or flopping over for a belly rub.
The best home for Vinny will be a quiet place with people that are willing to go slow in the beginning. Young children would be stressful, but a respectful teenager might work. We don’t know about cats. Vinny does have some arthritis in his hips so a home with minimal stairs is best. He also has some allergies so no food or treats with chicken or turkey.
Vinny is currently being fostered in Santa Cruz, CA.
If interested in adopting Vinnie, please contact Joanie at 831 332-9777 or you can fill out an application at https://www.capeanimals.org/adoption-application.html.
