Meet Vigo!<br/><br/>We're confused by this dude being where he is! He is surprisingly well adjusted in many ways and in others he seems inexperienced in dealing with over stimulation. <br/><br/>This boy was clearly owned and cared for but ended up on the streets as a stray and has a bit of a ride since then. <br/><br/>Since being with us he's been fantastic. The groomers loved him and he seemed to love the grooming. He did find the whole ordeal distressing and got an upset tummy for a day but he handled it all like a pro.<br/><br/>He's jumped into vet and techs arms at first meet and was fine being taken back for his medical. He's loved strangers coming by the house and gets along with other animals being in his space, on top of him, around food, toys and other resources.<br/><br/>Every time we take him out of his kennel he knows the deal and wonders why the leash isn't on yet because we have a walk to go on! He's been so respectful of his house mates around resources and just hanging out, it's been impressive.<br/><br/>This boy can handle a working schedule, he's kennel trained and does fantastic with it. <br/><br/>All that being said this is still a Shih Tzu, they are known for being little gremlins and are not always buckets of sunshine and good times. They often have attitude and talk back if they feel challenged.<br/><br/>We want to make you aware of some of Vigo's "quirks", which may have an impact on his future placement.<br/><br/>Vigo has a history of being prickly when he is overstimulated or confronted and not interested in hearing what you have to say. <br/><br/>This is typical of Shih Tzu's in many cases, and it does require knowing or educating yourself on the breed to be able to handle him.<br/><br/>He can get silly when he is on the leash and act braver than he is when he sees something at a distance, but if he's off leash, he instantly loses his bravado and interest in being a punk.<br/><br/>Here's an example of a Shih Tzu in the this is what love looks like trend for reference of gremlin behavior! https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7KaK7lutwi/<br/><br/>Please highlight your experience with Shih Tzu's when reaching out to us, this breed can be difficult for first time dog owners to manage and Vigo is getting a lot of attention because he's cute.<br/><br/>We are in talks with applicants at all times given the amount of inquiries and apps he is getting. Given up to four hours of free training (from the foster and coordinator),<br/>2. Full medical report of all findings,<br/>3. All of the supplies needed for a new dog as we attain these for the care of each dog,<br/>4. A full run down on their behavioral status, where they started, where they are and how far is left to go. This will be detailed in a training plan from us about what they can or cannot handle well and it will be discussed as much as needed.<br/><br/>We fully vet all of our dogs which is reflected in our adoption fee. On average we will pay about 600 dollars in medical per dog. Every dog gets a full blood panel, fecal/urine check, heartworm & tick panel and treatment if required, spayed/neutered, all shots and boosters, along with anything specific to their needs.
