Meet Venus, formerly known as Sheeva!<br/><br/>Venus is a beautiful, playful girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She absolutely loves being around her people, giving kisses, playing with other dogs, and snuggling on the couch. She's the perfect combination of energetic playmate and affectionate cuddle buddy!<br/><br/>Personality & Favorite Things<br/><br/>Venus is a sweet, confident girl who loves attention and companionship. She's always ready for some fun and especially enjoys wrestling and playing with her canine friends. She's often the one to get playtime started!<br/><br/>Although Venus has plenty of energy, she also knows how to settle down and relax. After a good play session, she's more than happy to curl up beside you on the couch and soak up all the affection she can get.<br/><br/>Venus is intelligent, eager to engage with her people, and has a wonderfully playful spirit. Once she feels comfortable, her loving personality truly shines.<br/><br/>Training & Home Life<br/><br/>Venus has made great progress in foster care and continues to work on her manners.<br/><br/>House Training: Doing well! Her only reported accidents were related to digestive upset, and she had no accidents once she was feeling better.<br/><br/>Leash Training: Walks fairly well but can pull when something interesting catches her attention.<br/><br/>Car Rides: May need encouragement getting into the vehicle, but rides well once inside.<br/><br/>Crate Training: Not individually crate trained. She has done well staying in a designated room and settles after a short adjustment period.<br/><br/>Energy Level: Moderate to high. Loves to play but settles down nicely afterward.<br/><br/>Household Manners: Can jump when excited and will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training.<br/><br/>Food Manners: Food motivated with no reported food aggression. May occasionally investigate countertops for snacks!<br/><br/>Venus responds well to redirection and will thrive with a family willing to continue helping her learn.<br/><br/>Other Dogs, Cats & Children<br/><br/>Venus enjoys the company of other dogs and has successfully lived with medium and large breeds. She loves having a canine playmate and has continued doing well with other dogs since spending time independently from Athena.<br/><br/>Although Venus and Athena are close, their foster family believes they may thrive in separate homes, allowing each girl to develop her own confidence and personality.<br/><br/>Venus could do well as an only dog or with a compatible canine companion who enjoys her playful energy. As always, proper introductions are important.<br/><br/>She has also been around dog-savvy cats. When the cats remained still, Venus would sniff them and move along. However, she may chase cats that run, so any feline introductions should be carefully supervised.<br/><br/>Venus has not been evaluated around children. Because of her size, strength, and tendency to jump when excited, a home with adults or older, dog-savvy children would be ideal.<br/><br/>Meeting New People<br/><br/>Venus is incredibly affectionate once she knows you, but she can be cautious around unfamiliar people.<br/><br/>She may bark or lunge while barking when meeting strangers, particularly men.
