Vel is an incredibly sweet, playful, and affectionate puppy who has been an absolute joy to foster. She is truly the sweetest pup and will always look at her favorite person with what feels like a smile. She holds so much love in her little heart and is always excited to share it once she feels comfortable. Vel thrives around other dogs and would do great in a home with playful companions of any size or age, as she loves to run, wrestle, and have fun. She is also wonderful with children, she adores attention and happily soaks up all the love, though she may need a little guidance with her excited jumping. She hasn’t shown any signs of aggression toward people or other animals and has been very gentle, even when taking toys or treats.<br/><br/>Vel is doing great with potty training and prefers going outside. She hasn’t had issues with chewing or destructive behavior. She walks well on a leash with minimal pulling and enjoys getting out and exploring. She can be a little vocal when in her kennel, but she settles down after some time and has been doing great sleeping in one. That said, she would likely be just as happy cuddled up in bed with her person, her favorite place at the end of the day is right next to them. Vel is very people-oriented and loves to follow her favorite person around, making her a loyal and loving companion. She can be a little shy around men at first, but with patience and kindness, she warms up well. Overall, Vel is a happy, loving pup who will make an amazing addition to a home ready to give her the love she’s so eager to give back.<br/><br/>Vel will need to be placed with a signed agreement that the adopter will have her spayed by the time she is a year old. This agreement will include a $250 discount to her adoption fee (the adoption fee for a puppy under a year old is usually $850) so the adopter can use this money towards the cost of her spay procedure. Vel will need to be placed with an adopter who lives in the state of Utah due to this agreement.<br/><br/>Vel is currently being fostered in Utah.<br/><br/>Rocky Mountain Dachshund Rescue (RMDR) has foster families in Colorado, Nevada, Utah, Montana, and Wyoming. Please check the dog’s location before your apply to adopt them. You will need to pick them up. RMDR DOES NOT TRANSPORT THE DOG TO YOU or transport them across state lines.<br/><br/>The Colorado Department of Agriculture requires that all dogs entering PACFA-licensed facilities have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days of entry. Dogs over three months of age must also have proof of a current rabies vaccination, including the vaccination date, manufacturer, and serial number listed on the CVI. Puppies must receive parvovirus and distemper vaccinations at least 14 days before entry.<br/><br/>These PACFA requirements may affect the adoption fee.
