Veda Hound & Retriever Mix Palatine, IL

It’s been a bumpy road for lovely Veda. This 10-month-old Hound/Retriever mix was rescued at the side of the road by a Good Samaritan, having been hit by a car. But following surgery, Veda is recovering exceedingly well and on her way to a wonderful new life.

Veda’s foster mom says she is “an amazing all-around dog. It’s like she peers into my soul. She is goofy, loving, submissive, lower energy, shy, and the cuddling world champ.” Initially quite frightened, Veda is slowly gaining confidence and learning that she is safe. Given slow introductions, she does well with other dogs, and is friendly with the resident cat and children.

There is nothing Veda likes more than a good cuddle session. She also enjoys running around the yard, playing with dog friends, and a good chewy treat. Veda is learning the rules of the house: she does well in her crate, rarely barks, and, while she occasionally chews on something she shouldn’t, she is very easily redirected. If kept on a schedule, her house-training is good, but left too long, she may have an accident. Consistency is the key for her.

Veda will surely be someone’s ideal dog: loving, loyal and sweet. Are you the gentle, patient human she needs?
