Vader's Story

Urgent Foster or Adopter Needed for Vader – Big, Beautiful German Shepherd!

Meet Vader – a stunning German Shepherd currently being held as an unclaimed stray in the City of Utica. For anyone who knows the breed, you understand that a kennel is absolutely NO place for a dog like him. He needs space to move, play, and just be a dog.

This sweet, goofy boy joined us for our event last Saturday. Even after spending days in the kennel, he graciously accepted kisses on the head and all the pets anyone could offer. We were so excited to let his friendly personality shine and get him out and about! Dropping him back off to the shelter afterward was absolutely heartbreaking — he wanted to stay in the car with us.

Vader is excellent in the car, and while he might bark at other dogs, it's purely out of curiosity and excitement (no aggression!). He hasn't been cat tested yet, and while he gets along well with other dogs, a meet-and-greet with any resident dogs would be required before heading home. He deserves so much more than a kennel life. This boy needs a foster home where he can run, play, zoom around, and then relax right next to his person. He has so much love to give and is ready to shine once he's out of that stressful environment.

Please – if you or someone you know can foster Vader ASAP, help us break him free before the kennel starts to take its toll.

Roversdoover.com/foster

Share this post far and wide – let's find Vader the perfect temporary home where he can be the happy, silly shepherd he's meant to be!

Rover's Do Over's Adoption Policy
Every animal in our care is unique and special! We strive to ensure that the animal you are considering is not only a perfect match for them, but also for you and your loved ones. Adoption applications are processed in the order they are received. All of our adoptable animals have received age-appropriate vaccines, been microchipped, and are spayed/neutered. The adoption fees contribute towards covering these necessary expenses. If a dog has not been neutered/spayed due to its age, arrangements will be addressed during the adoption process. Every dog is accompanied by a rehoming contract, and if any circumstances change, the dog must be returned to RDO. We are committed to providing lifelong support to our dogs and their families, ensuring they receive the care & assistance they need. Once you’ve chosen the dog you’d like to adopt, please fill out the adoption application below or email us at roversdoover@gmail.com for an adoption counselor to contact you. Adoption counseling is available to ensure a successful adoption.
