Twyla's Story

Mix, female, 3 years, 55 lbs.

Looking for an active playmate by day, super snuggler by night? Then Twyla is your pup! This three-year-old mix is turbo-charged for long walks and runs but then loves to chill out with her family at night. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and well-mannered in the house, though she has been known to counter surf or pluck good-smelling items out of the wastebasket if no one is looking. She is a great watch dog who barks to alert her foster family of incoming visitors but then greets folks appropriately when she knows they are welcome.

Twyla has loved every human she has met but is selective about other dogs. She likes to cuddle with her blind foster dog brother and has interacted nicely with some other dogs, so she would be great as the only dog in the house or paired with another dog that understands that she is the top dog. She was found as an adult stray in Arkansas so a slow introduction to new dog pals is necessary.

Super smart Twyla can sit, give a paw, and catch treats (and even flies!) out of the air. She loves car rides and playing with balls, frisbees, and hard chew toys. She makes her foster family laugh with her antics playing in the yard and is a super affectionate snuggler. She has a strong prey drive and is a little too interested in cats and other small animals to live with them. Given Twyla’s enthusiasm and high energy, she is best suited to a home without small children.

To find out more about Twyla and set up a meet and greet with this canine supermodel, email rescue@peppertree.org

*************************************************************************

We are only accepting applications within 90 minutes of Albany, NY.
