Tupelo's Story

Meet Tupelo and his famous fancy ears. This lovable, playful, affectionate goofball is a full-on bundle of joy. He greets his people with enthusiastic tail wags and plenty of kisses, and he’s always up for toys and time with his dog friends.

Tupelo is athletic, fast, and hilariously awkward in the best way. He’s all legs and very proud of it, especially when he shows off his speed and signature jumps. Also known as Tupey, he’s fully house-trained and crate-trained. His foster parents even call him the crate king. Tupey's knows a lot of commands!! Sit, stay, paw, heel, crate, drop (drops his toy for fetch AND drops something he is not supposed to have), and pees on command. He also waits to be invited out of his crate even when there's distractions. Some might say Tupey is quite the “smartie pants”

He’s building confidence and would thrive with someone excited to work with a dog who’s eager to learn and genuinely wants to please. Leash walking is still a work in progress, but his sweet, determined eyes say it all. He’s building his confidence and trying, and we know he’ll get there.

End the day with nighttime cuddles and you’ll have Tupelo exactly where he wants to be. Give Tupey a chance and he’ll pay you back with endless love and lots of laughs.

Tupelo's ideal home? Tupelo’s ideal home is with a patient, experienced dog owner who’s excited to keep building his skills, especially obedience and leash walking. He’s a smart boy who thrives with structure and a confident handler, and he’d love being part of a pack. Tupelo will need to be in a home with another dog as he thrives with other dog companionship.

He needs space to burn off energy and have fun, whether that’s running, playing fetch, tug of war, or other enriching activities. A fenced backyard would be ideal, along with a relatively quiet neighborhood where he can feel settled and succeed.

Name: Tupelo

Breed: Mixed Breed

Age: 1 year, 7 months

Weight: 46lb

Sex: Male, neutered

Colour: Brindle, Tri-colour

Medical: No concerns

Good with men: Yes

Good with women: Yes

Good with kids 0-6: Not recommended, startles easily

Good with kids 6+: recommended 12+

Good with dogs: Yes. He does especially well with other dogs and needs a home with at least 1 other dog. He has medium to high energy and would benefit from living with a dog of similar or slightly lower energy who can help model calm, neutral behavior.

How does the dog typically act when meeting new people? Tupey's behavior depends on his comfort level. When relaxed, he may approach happily with a wagging tail, offer kisses, and enjoy gentle affection. If he feels unsure or nervous, he tends to approach cautiously but warms up when he knows he is safe

Good with cats: Yes

House trained: Yes

Crate trained: Yes

Foster crowned him “king of the crate” 👑 .

He enjoys his crate!

Resource guarding: None seen

Walks on a leash: Tupey is still building confidence on walks. He uses a prong collar and walks well (without he may pull). He may feel nervous around cars and trucks, needing gentle coaxing. With consistent guidance and positive reinforcement, he shows a strong willingness to learn, focus, and improve, and enjoys exploring new sights and smells once he feels secure.

Energy level: Medium-High, would benefit from and active family.

Areas to work on: Tupey is a sensitive, smart dog who benefits from patience and consistent guidance. He’s working on building confidence, managing fear of loud noises. He can get excited and may jump up when greeting people, but with structure, positive reinforcement, and gentle guidance, he’s making steady progress and shows a real eagerness to learn and please.

Requires detached/single home: yes

Separation anxiety: None seen

Barker: Yes, when startled.
