She is a sweet girl who loves a nap. She will occasionally grab small ropes or stuffed toys to play with<br/>Dislikes: Being alone<br/>House-trained: Yes<br/>Crate trained: Yes, but she would prefer a home where she does not have to be in a crate but her foster home has been working with her on crating overnight. She is able to crate effectively all night if given anxiety medication, but she would do best in an open pen/room or even sleeping in bed with her furever family!<br/>Fenced yard required: Yes<br/>Special needs: Her separation anxiety is limited to when she is completely by herself. She does just fine with humans or other dogs around. She has been on a weight loss journey and should continue that in her furever home. She has luxating patellas in her back legs that give her a bit of a wobbly gait, but they don’t currently and may never require surgical intervention.<br/><br/>Truffles is a typical lazy pug. She loves people and gets along well with all types of dogs; she pretty much ignores the resident cat. Truffles LOVES the sun and would appreciate a home with cozy sunspots in which to lounge. She also really enjoys a doggy heating pad located in a soft bed.<br/><br/>Truffles is relatively independent in that she may not always be on your lap since she enjoys warm spots where there is sun or artificial heat, but rest assured she will follow you around the house if you’re on the move and let you know when she would like some pets! She is not above pawing at you to let you know she’s ready for attention. Truffled does get up and down from the couch using dog stairs but usually only spends a bit of time asking for pets and snuggles before moving back to the sunspot, bed with heating pad, or bed in front of the fireplace.<br/><br/>Truffles is on one daily med for anxiety symptoms she exhibited upon first entering rescue. She was fixated on fluffy toys and groomed them obsessively. She also marked near toy bins. One 10 mg pill of fluoxetine per day (about $1.50/month in cost) has completely taken care of these issues. She takes the pill easily with a small bit of turkey or pill pocket. There may come a time when she doesn’t require the med at all but for now, she is thriving on it! She is also still working on crate training overnight with her foster family and gets 50 mg of trazodone (less than $2.50/month) before bed time. The trazodone will not be necessary if her adopter chooses to have her in an open pen, a room, or in bed with them! A joint supplement could also benefit her but is not required.<br/><br/>Truffles’ ideal home has limited stairs or a human willing to scoop her. She can currently do stairs both up and down but her mobility in her back legs is limited due to her luxating patellas. She can manage (very) short walks and enjoys them. Mostly, she just wants to snuggle up and sleep the day away, intermittently waking up for pets, sun, and snacks, before smooshing her face back into a bed. Truffles is such a sweet, happy girl who will make someone’s family feel complete. She is universally adored by all who meet her (including the vet staff, dog sitters, and her foster home) and now she’s ready to be pampered by a family ready to adopt her!!<br/><br/>Are you interested in adopting Truffles? For approved out-of-state adoptions requiring airfare, the pug must fit in an airline-approved carrier that can fit under the seat. Out-of-state adopters must arrange for transport; in some cases, we may have volunteers able to help.
