Trike's Story
This boy is one in a million; everyone says so! Having only three legs hasn’t made a difference in Trike’s excited-to-be-with-you-or-learning-a-new-trick attitude. He walks along side on a leash like a pro and LOVES snuggling up on command. Trike is showing signs of being fully house trained, is crate trained and sleeps through the night, climbs stairs like it’s child’s play, sits for a treat, looks adoringly at whomever will give him attention and growls/barks only at big sounds or unexpected reflections (of himself). He listens to "no" and responds quickly and appropriately. He’s a true treasure and all around "good boy."

This dog arrived at VHS with a severe injury to his left hind leg. To treat his wounds and relieve his pain, it was necessary to amputate his left hind leg. He has recovered and healed from the surgery very well. He has skin sutures which should be removed between 9/4/26-9/8/26. Once the surgery site has completely healed, he is expected to be pain-free and no further treatment for his wounds is anticipated. Three-legged dogs have an excellent quality of life. They can be extremely active and he is expected to have a normal life-span for a dog. Keeping him at a healthy weight is especially important to avoid putting additional strain on his remaining hind leg.

Trike was transferred to Valley Humane on 8/20 from Stockton Animal Services. He weighs 24 pounds and is a young adult dog (estimated to be aged between 1 and 4 years old).

Do you have questions about this animal or are you ready to take the next step to adoption?
