Trekker Retriever & Pit Bull Terrier Mix Palatine, IL

Trekker is dark and handsome, and ready for love. He’s a medium-sized neutered male almost a year old.

Trekker is crate-trained and will sleep in the crate at night, though he needs a little bit of time to get settled and may bark or get restless if he’s in the crate for too long. During the day when he needs a little break, his fosters provide him with a private room to dream of hugs and kisses. He’s house trained and will let you know he needs to do his business by standing at the door.

Trekker gets along with kids of all ages, but his exuberant personality might be too much for little ones. Trekker is a protective fella and will bark to alert you to what’s happening outside, especially if he sees strangers, or his mortal enemy - squirrels! He does well with the foster’s cat and gets along well with other dogs, too. He’s playful and can’t get enough of those squeaky toys!

When he’s not busy stealing hearts, Trekker’s curious nose leads him to the counters to sniff out other things he can nibble on. He is a fast learner and is food motivated, so with some extra encouragement and training, we just know he will thrive. He already has learned “sit,” “outside,” and more. We think Trekker would be best-suited to an active household with someone who can continue providing patience, training, and unconditional love.
