Trek German Shepherd Dog Mix Lenoir, NC

Trek was loved by his surrendering owners, but had grown too big for their apartment. He's looking for adventures and explorations with his forever family.

With a guesstimated birthday in May 2022, Trek weighed 48 lb in Dec. 2022.

Trek is house-trained when kept on a regular schedule. He does well when taken out during the day every 2-3 hours. He is still a big puppy, so shows puppy enthusiasm. He's learning self-discipline, particularly to be still while Mom clips his leash on so he can go for a sniff walk.

He is comfy in a 48" crate, but may need a 54" as an adult to allow him to sprawl. He wants to go for his morning walk as soon as he hears his foster mom stirring and will bark to encourage her to hurry.

Trek is leash savvy, but will pull when excited. He likes car rides and will load with a little encouragement. He is good with all the foster dogs and seems to like the foster cats.

Trek is affectionate and eager to please. He wants to be where his people are, but is learning that this isn't always possible and to content himself until they return.

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we usually have to make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.

If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when you're not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.

A vet reference is required to confirm responsible pet ownership. Requirement is a minimum three year vet history documenting current / previous pets are spayed / neutered, kept up to date on core vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention. We suggest first time pet owners without a vet history look for an adult dog for companionship and to gain experience. Other rescues or your local government-run animal control agency may have different adoption requirements.

Adoption fee covers two vaccinations. Additional fees for 3rd puppy vaccination, refundable spay/neuter deposit, etc. may apply.

We are an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue. We receive no funding from agencies.

Not all foster dogs are available for viewing during public events, held most Saturdays at Tractor Supply (360 Blowing Rock Blvd) in Lenoir, NC from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We recommend interested parties contact us to pre-qualify for adoption so their new furry family can go home once paperwork is complete.
