Tony's Story
Tony is a 4-year-old Spaniel/Great Pyrenees mix who is knee-high, 62 pounds of pudge, and an expert in the art of hiding behind his people. He’s shy, timid, and convinced the outside world is a little too loud, but he’s also curious enough to poke his nose out and take a look before retreating to safety,

Tony was a COVID puppy who didn’t get much socialization. As a result, people, dogs, and cats are all a bit of a puzzle to him. He’s learning, though, as he’ll sniff a dog and then retreat to peek around his person as if to say, “Who is this bold interloper, and why are they in my space?” A calm, mellow dog companion might be fine for him, but bouncy pogo-stick dogs need not apply.

Cats scare him, but not in a predatory way. Think more “startled kid at a haunted house” than “hunter on the prowl.” Full retreat upon hissing is his standard default.

Tony is looking for a quiet home with a fenced yard where he can feel safe while he figures out that the world is not actually out to get him. He’d do best with teenagers and up, since younger kids are a bit too unpredictable for his liking. A sofa for him to crawl up on next to you to maybe get some petting and snacks is his best dream ever.

If you’re patient, kind, and willing to let a shy boy blossom at his own pace, Tony will reward you with gentle companionship and the occasional brave peek out from behind your legs.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please apply online, at https://bigfluffydogs.com/dog-adoption/.
