Tom's Story

Hi there, I'm Tom! <br/><br/>If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate puppy with a fantastic balance of playfulness and cuddles, I might just be your guy! I'm still a young pup learning the ropes, but I've already got a huge heart and a wonderful foundation.<br/><br/> About Me<br/><br/>* **People & Pets:** I love humans of all ages! I do great with other dogs (both big and small) and have a polite, submissive personality around canine friends. I've even been approved by dog-savvy cats!<br/>* **Affectionate & Intuitive:** I love giving kisses, snuggling, and curling up in laps. Because of my sweet nature and natural intuition, my foster mom thinks I could be a wonderful candidate for therapy work once I grow up!<br/>* **Energy & Vibe:** I have plenty of fun puppy energy, but I come with a great "off-switch." When play time is over, I'm more than happy to settle down and relax.<br/><br/> Good Manners & Daily Life<br/><br/>* **Crate & House Training:** I am crate trained and view my crate as my safe space—I never have accidents in it! I am mostly house-trained when kept on a reliable routine. I'm working on ringing bells to ask to go outside, and I wear belly wraps inside just "in case."<br/>* **Walks & Rides:** I'm great on a leash, enjoy going for walks, and love taking car rides.<br/>* **Toys & Food:** I love my toys and stick to chewing on them instead of household items. I'm a hearty eater with an iron stomach! I do like to eat a little fast, so I currently use a slow-feeder bowl.<br/>* **Vocal & Prey Drive:** I have a normal puppy bark that I use during play or when I want your attention. My prey drive is low, though I do find geese pretty fascinating!<br/><br/> Still Learning<br/><br/>I'm still a baby, so I'm actively practicing my recall, learning not to jump when excited, and working on signaling when I need to step outside. As long as you keep me on a schedule and take me out right away after saying words like "potty" or "outside," I do great!<br/><br/>*Note on Loud Noises:* I prefer to hang out in my safe spot when loud equipment like mowers or saws are running—I'm not terrified, but I'd rather sit those out indoors!<br/><br/>---<br/><br/> Medical & Next Steps<br/><br/>* **Neuter Date:** Scheduled for **August 4th**<br/><br/>If you're looking for a loving, smart, and adaptable pup to complete your family, ask about meeting me today! <br/>Please fill out an Adoption Application at www.clancysdream.org

Clancy's Dream Inc.'s Adoption Policy
When you adopt any companion animal, especially a rescue, it is a commitment that will affect your lifestyle for many years to come. Do you have the time, energy and resources necessary to devote to a new member of the family? With good care, most Border Collies will live 10 to 17 years. It is critical that you consider what is likely to be happening in your own life — before you adopt a pet. If you can provide a healthy, safe and loving home and would like to adopt a Clancy’s Dream rescued Border Collie the next step is to read our Adoption Process Quick Facts and then complete the Adoption Application. Please note that the application is not an agreement to adopt a pet. Improper placement can end tragically — usually for the dog. This comprehensive application helps us to place the right dog with the right family. An adoption interview will be scheduled either by phone or in person upon review of the application. The level of experience required, need for a fence, adequate exercise space, hours the animal may be left alone, young children and other pets in the home, etc will be discussed in the adoption interview and will be determined according to the need of each dog.
