Togepi's Story

Togepi
14 week, neutered male, 6 lbs
Terrier mix

LIKES: Playing with his foster sister dogs and brother kitties. Loves wicked fast runs throughout the house, and enjoys a snuggle and a cuddle.

DISLIKES: Wet grass during potty runs. Does not like his feet wet.

PERSONALITY: Sweet and gentle, but still teething so needs something to be chewing on at all times. Affectionate, totally engaged with all happenings around the house. He is a very smart boy who needs to be shown things once or twice and groks it right away. Very food and treat motivated right now, so he will take well to training. Have not done leash work with him yet. He still is a very light sleeper and while the older dogs take two hour naps, he’s done at 15 minutes and back up tearing it up.

POTTY TRAINING: He is doing really well for a young pup. He understands when the door opens to go outside and pee. He is also young and will slip a quick pee in between normal intervals. He uses potty pads sometimes in the house for these moments. He follows the big dogs outside and has done a good job of learning potty etiquette. He goes outside as soon as he wakes up, as soon as he eats, after he plays for 15 minutes – – get him out to pee and he’ll do it.

CRATE TRAINING: He is an absolute miracle! If you put him in the X pen and his crate is there, he never complains, he just goes and takes a nap. He’s able to sleep the whole night in the crate without complaint. He’s also more than willing to sleep on the bed with his humans, but he is a very light sleeper so we suggest crating him at night until we get better sleep patterns that the humans can adapt to!

OTHER/MISC: He would do very well with other dogs and cats, once the cats set the tone... The elder dogs and kitties in his foster home have been quick to correct him, and he has adjusted beautifully to them. He does need constant refocusing away from using teeth on people. Toys, treats, Kongs all help redirect his energy.
He is adorable inside and out. He is sweet and tender and smart and is going to make his adopters very happy.

To further inquire about TOGEPI, submit an application.
https://wigglytails.org/adoption-application/

Tell us about yourself, family, other pets, and how TOGEPI will mesh with your lifestyle.
