Toby's Story

Meet delightful little Toby - an energetic little Puggle. He came as a stray, and has been aged at 1 1/2 yr , and he weighs 17#. Coming into his foster home, he made himself right at home. He quickly bonded with the resident dog, who is over twice his size, and can keep up with her when they run around the yard together. Toby quickly learns things from her, and now joins the resident dog and cat to sleep with the foster overnight (he sometimes burrows under the covers). He joins her on the couch - he often lies on his back with his belly up - maybe because it has been hot lately. Fine meeting new people and new dogs. The first encounter with the cat had both animals on edge, but now they ignore/tolerate each other. He hasn't been with children yet, but we highly recommend any children in the adoptive home be dog-experienced and respectful 12 yr and up (younger kids might leave a door open a little too long and smart little Toby could get out). Appears housebroken - had one poop accident initially, no accidents of any kind since. Doesn't have a signal, asking to go out, so you need to put him out frequently starting out until he learns the routine. We highly recommend a secure fenced yard and another playful dog in his adoptive home. Has been kenneled when left- doesnt' bark. Knows his name and comes when called; responds to a strong NO correction. Very smart and should do well with obedience training. Thrives on attention. Active and energetic can keep up with the larger resident dog. Toby was chasing a butterfly one day- leaping and trying to grab it. Foster didn't let him continue and the butterfly got wise and left the yard. Does bark at dogs and people walking by. No inappropriate chewing. No interest in toys. No leash experience (he has that fenced area to run around in for exercise). He loves to be with people, and the best fit for him would be someone that is home much of the time. Being such a smart boy, it would be best if the adopter had previous dog experience.

Toby has been neutered and is current on distemper and rabies vaccinations. When he was at the vet clinic being neutered, a few buckshot were felt along his back, and were surgically removed. 4 DX test, which includes the heartworm test, is negative. His microchip is registered to Second Chance. The adoption fee for this little treasure is $375. Call 651-771-5662 if you are interested in Toby.
