Tobi - COURTESY LISTING's Story

Tobi, also known as Bean, is an 18-month old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix. He weighs about 55 pounds. Tobi is house trained, crate trained, neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. He has some food sensitivities to chicken and beef but does well on a salmon-based diet.

Tobi is a sensitive, affectionate boy who can be shy when meeting new people and dogs. Once he feels safe, he bonds deeply and enjoys companionship, affection, and play. Like most herding breed dogs, Tobi is initially cautious and careful, but he warms up and enjoys playing once he's comfortable.

Tobi is very intelligent and eager to learn. He knows several tricks, including sit, shake, spin, roll over, orbit, and under (he goes between your legs and sits). He also knows the cue place, which means going into his crate. Tobi really enjoys his training sessions and would love a home that will continue helping him learn new things.

Tobi is affectionate and loves to cuddle with his people. He has a playful, goofy personality. And since he is basically still a puppy at only 18-months old, he can be delightfully clumsy, not quite sure which way his legs need to go to follow his body. He really likes interactive play games such as tug-of-war, fetch, and keep away. When he gets overstimulated he self-sooths in his crate where he can feel safe and secure.

Tobi can get overwhelmed by loud or busy environments which is not unusual for herding dog breeds. Traffic and busy roads, motorcycles, and fireworks can be especially difficult for him. He would thrive in a calm home in a quiet neighborhood.

Tobi would love having a home with a fenced yard to run and play all the games. We are looking for a patient home that understands the needs of a sensitive, working-breed dog and can help Tobi continue to build confidence. Tobi would do best in a home with older children (12+) who can respect a sensitive dog's space. With time and patience, Tobi will be a deeply loyal and loving companion.

Tobi is located in Denver, CO.

If you're interested in Tobi, please fill out our adoption application at the link below. We will forward it to her owner. The adoption fee will be donated to Western Australian Shepherd Rescue.
