MEET TJ!

This handsome little 12 year old Bichon joined City of Elderly Love after his owner passed away and his family couldn't keep up with his care. We were happy to help them and help him! We've loved getting to know this little man but it's just about time for him to spread his wings and find his true retirement home.

TJ LOVES being with his people. He's happy to just hang out, snuggle up on the couch next to you while you work, crawl into your lap, and he will insist on sleeping in bed with you at night. He's currently living with other dogs and absolutely loves palling around with them. While he doesn't mind sharing space or toys, the one thing he doesn't like to share with other dogs is his bed. He'll growl and give a warning snap for them to beat it. Even though he may be an older guy, TJ still gets zoomies and chases around his stuffed toys like a pup. He'll carry them around and when he's done playing, use them as a pillow to nap. He can keep up with his younger canine foster siblings on walks no problem, but he does best on shorter walks and sometimes becomes sore if pushed too long (old man, old joints). He has no trouble hopping up on/off the couch or bed though. TJ loves meeting people - kids, adults, whoever! We have not seen TJ around cats just yet.

Like many small dogs, TJ can be a bit vocal and barks in excitement when his foster dad comes home but settles down eventually. TJ was surrendered due to having separation anxiety but he's doing great in his foster home. He may sulk a bit when you leave for work, but he's not destructive, he's housebroken, and is quiet when they get home. He especially loves a peanut butter stuffed Kong toy when you leave which helps. He may need a little patience as he settles into your routine. TJ has received regular veterinary care and needs one more checkup with our vet in the coming weeks in addition to likely needing a dental cleaning before officially heading to his forever home.
