Having lived his whole life in the shadow of a dominant littermate who bullied him daily, he is naturally timid, easily startled, on the defense and unsure of new things. When meeting new people, he gets nervous, may shake, and bark out of fear. However, under his scared demeanor is a loving, playful dog who just wants to feel secure. When he feels safe on his own, he is a completely different dog! While he gets excited around kids, their fast energy startles him, so a quiet environment is best for him.<br/>Once Tiny knows he is safe and trusts you, his true personality shines! He gives sweet kisses, rolls over for belly rubs, and will proudly bring you his favorite toys.<br/>Important Home & Handling Needs: He needs a special, experienced person—a calm, adult-only home, willing to go at his pace and help him build his confidence.<br/>Handling & Boundaries: Because he startles easily, He needs a home that respects his personal space. When he is resting, or during activities like grooming, applying flea drop medication, or putting on a collar/harness, sudden movements or forced handling can trigger a fear response (warning growls or an impulsive nip). He needs a gentle hand, clear boundaries, and positive reinforcement to help him feel safe.<br/>House Habits & Other Animals: He thrives on a frequent potty schedule and a regular routine. Tiny will do best as the only pet in the home—he tends to mark territory around other pets and has not been around many cats to have any positive experiences with them.
