Around 2 years old, and just under 50 pounds, Tika is the perfect blend of sweet companion and playful friend. She happily leans into affection from her human pals and loves soaking up pets and attention, but she also enjoys stretching her legs and playing with her four-legged friends.<br/><br/>Tika previously lived with other dogs and did wonderfully with them. She has a soft, sensitive nature and can be fearful of loud noises and brooms, so she’s looking for a patient, understanding home where she can continue to build confidence and feel safe.<br/><br/>This lovely girl came to us from a sister rescue in Kentucky, where she recently gave birth to 10 adorable puppies. After being such a devoted mama, it’s finally Tika’s turn to be cared for, cherished, and spoiled in a forever home of her own.<br/><br/>During a recent stay at a volunteer's house, Tika enjoyed going for walks and was very curious of people, bikes, and children playing. Tika can get anxious during car rides and is prone to motion sickness, so she may need some extra patience and support when traveling. She can also be sensitive in new or overwhelming situations — for example, when another dog barked at her, she tucked her tail and froze up — so she’s looking for a calm, patient home that will help build her confidence at her own pace.<br/><br/>Tika’s gentle spirit and loving personality make her such a special dog. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting.<br/>• You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF.<br/>• Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences.<br/>• We do request vet and personal references.<br/>• We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.
