TIGGER - (JJ) COMO TEXAS's Story

This boy is urgent due to family overloaded with extreme aging health conditions. 8 year olds (As of this year’s guess) are in their prime. Not seniors. We will accept a permanent foster or foster with intent to adopt and long distant transport can be discussed. We want to give them solidness and security the rest of their days…Read full bio. We need commitment a, no uprooting them again and again. Owner is trying to hold and care for them till we place them. Please fill out our foster or adopt app @ JCLDR.com or call Janeen for info on options and how it works. Healthy active dogs with manners and worthy of help in need. Tigger is approx 8 years old per the veterinarian’s guess. We believe he is a littermate to Tank. He is neutered, fully vaccinated and vaccinations kept current. On HW prevention, Bravecto flea and tick meds, testing HW negative. He is very energetic for his age. He is more sensitive, shy and needing reassurance than littermate Tank. In fact he craves love. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate for 10 hours comfortably. When weather is good he is in and out of the yard for exercise and stimulation. If weather is bad, he would just as soon be in his open wire crate; his safe loved place. During the day he spends most of the day outside unless heat escalates. When he is in, the owner leaves him in the crate at all times, after he is done eating, and has a potty break outside. But if weather is good he prefers to stay outside. He has never intentionally been left uncreated in their home, so we don’t know whether he is destructive or not, never left unattended in the house, their dog rules. He travels in a car well and doesn’t resist going. He does know travel means vet visits and like many if not most dogs, that brings some unease. He has never been reactive with the vet and the vet techs trim his nails without any muzzle or heavy resistance from him. One time they quicked him accidentally and he never reacted. He is around other dogs without being reactionary at the vets and cooperates with the vet without sedatives or being muzzled for most vet work. If a dog at the vets gets obnoxious, Tigger would probably stand his ground with any dog like that. No cats or small dogs because of his hunting drive for moles and such.Tigger did see a barn cat in their yard from the neighbors and Tigger more than Tank went after the running cat. We feel no small children for him and will explain further below. READ ON !! He is not too motivated for toy play at all, preferring human attention. He is less food motivated than Tank but will train for food willingly owner believes. He is smart and cooperative and aims to please very much. The people at the vets and boarding where they temp placed him, adore him. He is not food possessive. He is fed separately from other dogs which is the right dog thing to do for any dog. In summer’s heat he will cool off in a kiddie pool, but never interested in swimming in large bodies of water. He is not an excessive barker outside normally during daylight hours, and never barks indoors when crated, he loves his crate. Crate, bed, toys all go with him; he will need them for comfort and familiar security. He loves Walmarts fleece blankets better than toys in his crate. He does alert normally if someone comes close to his territory but it is normal. Not an excessive yard barker unless there a real reason, mostly it is @ night if he is out, triggered triggered by coyote activity which is extreme in their area. Any wild life during the day he would bark and alert. Tigger might howl at coyotes and that is not uncommon but he is not a talker like Tank. He is a more observant quiet companion dog. On leash he is very cooperative, is not over reactive or a leash puller, Though all Catahoulas will do leash pulling at times. He does pull if he has to go look for a potty place. He is very much a Velcro dog, loves to be petted and fussed over. He is outgoing and gregarious in personality but not as opinionated and expressive as littermate Tank unless he feels threatened by another dog, then he does let them know he is uneasy but has never lunged at another dog. He is an adjuster to change and has proven that by the days he has had to be boarded long term at the veterinarians due to owners health emergencies..people whom he just vaguely knew thru once a year visits. THEY LOVE HIM, the vet tech adores both of them. Techs couldn’t adopt them because they had too many dogs already. They were tempted. The reason he was boarded was due to owner’s husband having a massive stroke and being in a coma for three months and then rehab so boarding lasted four months. This is the only reason their dogs are being rehomed at all because the family is in poor health and having to divide up the care for the husband is 24/7. It is imperative that Tigger, along with his cohort Tank, who is also is looking for a new home get help now, but because littermates often times get along sporadically due to competitive interactions, vying for attention, it is best they be separated. Tigger would do best with a non bossy run easy older female that is a companion without being a steamboat of energy. He would play moderately and reasonably with a good natured dog. He still would need bonding time with a dog more than with humans. With humans he is very quick to bond. Remember he has been in his home for 8 years so he will need comfort and time to adjust possibly. We can help and do all the time. We are trying to guess how this could play out. JCLDR will be the person to call if there is help needed with adjustments. We do this all the time when needed for as long as we are needed. In fact we are asking at this time for a totally committed FOSTER that will care for this dog under our rescue for the remaining years of his life or a rock solid adopter that is going to give him whatever years he has left. Dog’s his age with good care like he has been given can have a longer life span than the guesstimated 12 years for his size and breed. At 8 we do not consider him a senior.. not until they are 10 have they reached the early boundary of the senior journey. He is in good health and shape and normal for most 8 year old Catahoulas. **TIGGER IS LOCATED IN EAST TEXAS. near Sulpher Springs. Please read through his FULL BIO. WE WANT COMMITMENT AND TIGGER NEEDS IT. He has done nothing to warrant losing his home. It is definitely dire human health issues that is critical which is why WE PREFER to have a HOSPICE FOSTER SET UP FOR THE REST OF THEIR LOVES; JCLDR TAKES CARE OF THEIR NEEDS AND FOSTERS WOULD BE STEWARDS WORKING WITH US TO CARE FOR THEM TOTALLY UNDER OUR DIRECTION INSTEAD OF ADOPTING. (Hospice care not mean he is dying) The female of the family has to have knee surgery also. She is 82 and caregiver to invalid husband. This is critical for the dogs that they be re-homed. This would be a shame for these two good dogs to be euthanized due to this situation. They are healthy and full of life. The family is grieving over this as well as their own emergencies. PLEASE HELP US GIVE THEM THE LAST YEARS THEY DESERVE.. SHARE AND SHARE AND CALL JANEEN IMMEDIATELY IF YOU CAN HELP. 406-323-3519 ANY HOUR.

HISTORY: TIGGER showed up at the owners gate about 8 years ago as a puppy, starving with ribs showing. The family he is with now took him in and fed him small meals until he could handle normal amounts. He was taken to the veterinarian and had a thorough check, including wormings and vaccinations. When he was about 6 to 8 months old he was neutered and went on HW prevention, also kept on flea and ticks prevention. To date he has tested negative for Hw and been covered with these preventions continually. He has never had any serious health concerns since they had him except successful hip repair done. He to date has never been overweight, is exercised daily. Tigger being the hunter even as a pup is probably what kept them alive while they were dumped and on the street. They were both approximately 12 weeks old when dumped and ended up saved by these wonderful good hearted people and now it is time to help these people who did the right thing by these dogs. BEAR IN MIND that Tigger appears to be Mountain cur.. NO PIT IN THIS DOG. He and tank appear to be mixes, however any female dog in heat can breed with different males; there can be several different dads in one litter.. Likely what happened. Brindle is common in Catahoulas

GOOD: Every time Tigger is fed in the mud room where the crates are, owner puts the food down and Tigger asks for love from them before he eats the food set before him. He is fed twice a day with approximately 12 hours in between so consider the love and kindness and need in this dog that motivates his being. He is more of the hunter of the two dogs, being goofy and a clown in his stalking moles in the yard; he pounces on the mole holes and he is a comic relief for a very tired stressed family because they are full of mole mounds and he could entertain all day. Also the funniest thing is that when he hunts, he walks on his tip toes slowly and with one leg he points. Now isn’t this some dog fun?

BAD: As a pup he had to have hip surgery, it was costly but successful; no residuals shows up to date. He was a gem to work through the rehab process; he recovered fast. The two dogs, that been together all their lives, are competitive with each other for owner attention and this is not anything new to working breeds, however at the boarding facility they tried to put them in the same small pen together and that was not acceptable to either dog.. therefore they do need to be adopted separately. They do have a weird bond and want to be together but again.. it is a weird dynamic. Not uncommon.

UGLY: This boy, when another dog stayed with the family during a family emergency was an easy dog. Tigger did protect his crate and space from the new dog but nothing vicious.
