Thor's Story

Thor is a six year old Carolina Dog. He is cautious and shy with those he does not know. He has grown increasingly social in his foster home. He has been fostered for a number of months now, acclimating after becoming stressed in a shelter environment. The Carolina Dog breed is naturally cautious and suspicious in unfamiliar or unsettled settings. With time, when bonded with their human, they become excellent household companions. They generally bond quickly. Thor is a beautiful, dignified dog. Thor lights up when he can socialize and spend time with other canines. He will thrive in a home with other dogs. Thor currently weighs 84 pounds. <br/><br/>There is a cat in his foster home, he has coexisted with the kitty very well.

Illinois Humane's Adoption Policy

Adopting a cat or dog from ILLINOIS HUMANE is a relatively easy task. You can visit our animals on-line at Petfinder and then contact us if you'd like to meet one of them in person. You can also visit with some of our animals during our offsite adoptions. We have a great volunteer staff to assist you in choosing the right pet for you, your family, your housing situation and your other animals. We do require an application to be completed for your adoption. ILLINOIS HUMANE also conducts a house check before approving each adoption. Our adoption fees are $150.00 for a dog and $50.00 for a cat. ILLINOIS HUMANE also ensures that each animal adopted is spay/neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations. Become a supporte
