Thor's Story

Meet Thor, the 9-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix named after the god of thunder but honestly just a little sweetheart looking for his forever home.
Thor has a special place in our hearts here. He was adopted from us as a puppy and has found his way back to us through no fault of his own. Life took a turn, and now this good boy is ready for his next chapter, and he deserves it to be a great one.

He takes a minute to warm up, but give him a little time and he'll go from shy to snuggly before you know it. He's come so far out of his shell that he now loves being petted, picked up, and held close. Thor worked hard to get here, and it shows.

Once comfortable, the real Thor comes out. Playful, cuddly, and full of personality. He loves jumping into the fun with other dogs, and when the zoomies are done, he'll find the nearest lap and plant himself there like he owns it.

Thor knows sit and stay, gets along fine with cats, and vibes best with adults. Active enough to play, chill enough to lounge. Nine years old, a little wiser, and ready to find the home he was always meant to have.

Pet Orphans of Southern California's Adoption Policy
Potential adopters may visit our Pet Orphans facility during operating hours as many times as they need to spend time with a pet they are interested in adopting. Applications for a pet may be submitted in-person at the reception office or through our website. Applications for a pet will be accepted until the best home for the pet is found ( NOT on a first-come, first-serve basis). Potential adopters will be notified of their application status anytime from 2 days to 2 weeks. If an application is approved, then the adopter can come to our facility to finalize. During finalization, adopters can expect to stay for 30 to 45 minutes to go over paperwork, sign the adoption contract, and pay the adoption fee. Pet Orphans also provides the option of applying for a foster-to-adopt. Foster applications must go through the same approval process, but approved fosters are allowed to take a pet home for 10 days to get a better sense of how a pet will acclimate to a household and lifestyle. After 10 days, foster must decide whether or not to finalize adoption.
