Tegan's Story

READY TO LEARN & HAVE FUN: Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 36 lbs.

Hi there, I’m Tegan! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and needed surgery for a vaginal prolapse. Thankfully, Mostly Mutts had that surgery done for me and I’m doing great, am happy and ready to find a wonderful home! I was adopted a couple of times and have been bounced around a bit (due to no fault of mine), but thankfully I’m back with Mostly Mutts. I’m looking for my forever home with the right family that understands the bulldog breed and loves putting in the time to train their dogs (think bull in a china shop).

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I have met other dogs and like them, though I’m a bit too much for smaller or older dogs, so if you have a dog that won’t mind my silly playstyle, let’s meet. / I met a cat in a temp. foster home and was interested. It was quite some time ago and all cats are different, so I’m not sure how I would do with another kitty, though I think I’d be too much for a kitten. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, but one of my former owners reported that I was good with their children, though I don’t recall their ages, so let’s meet and Mostly Mutts recommends kids 15 and older for now as I’m in training and am mouthy as well as rambunctious in a loving way, and I just may not understand my strength.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m adorable, super friendly, a lovebug, very playful and happy, too! As mentioned above, I’m also a bit of a “bull in a china shop” right now and some call me a little “tank.” I have a lot of enthusiasm and short little legs that love to run to you, and I know you’ll love my silly little waggle dance and all the snorty sounds that I make. My proper social skills are a work in progress, so just know that you will need to continue helping me in this area so that I can learn what you expect of me. / Energy level: 5-7. This could change up or down once I acclimate to life in my new home.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program and had learned the ‘sit’, ‘come’ and ‘leave it’ commands prior to my adoptions. I’ll be tested on those again soon. We’re also working on manners as well as other commands, and I’ll need a family that is willing to put the time in on training me and bulldogs have a stubborn nature, so you must have patience and you may have to outsmart me, too - lol. When on walks around the shelter, I sometimes don’t want to go any further, but we’ve found that if you have a treat or a tennis ball, I’ll get up and go again. / I did well in my crate in my temp. foster home, as well as the large crate I’m in at Mostly Mutts. I would not want to spend too much time in a crate though. / Since I’ve recently returned to Mostly Mutts, we’re not yet sure how my potty manners are yet, but my former adoptive family reported that I was potty trained, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I love people, playing, treats, and carrying around an XL tennis ball which is so adorable! I also enjoy Nylabones and squeaky Kong balls from time to time. I like riding in the car, so let’s go on some adventures together! I’m a big fan of belly, chest, and leg rubs - and overall attention! / I don’t like being pulled on a leash, so have some treats and a tennis ball ready to help me keep going! In my former foster home, I did not like being confined to a room where I couldn’t see my people and I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.

If you’re ready for lots of love from a silly bulldog as well as being committed to my training, we could have loads of good times together! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
