Teddy's Story

Meet Teddy 12 Pounds of Personality, Permanent Teefs & a Giraffe Neck!

Looking for a little dog with a BIG personality? Meet Teddy!

Teddy is a 7-ish-year-old, 12-pound Shih Tzu mix who was recently returned to HOPE after his owner was no longer physically able to care for him. While were sad he's back, we're excited to help him find the perfect forever home.

Let's start with the obvious... Teddy is absolutely adorable! He has the cutest little underbite, his tiny teefs are almost always sticking out, and his neck is so surprisingly long that were convinced there's a tiny giraffe somewhere in his family tree.

Teddy is full of personality and isn't shy about expressing himself! He'll happily let the neighborhood dogs know he's on patrol from behind a fence or window—but once the barrier disappears, he's more interested in making friends than causing trouble. He can also be a little particular about being picked up, but when you listen to what he's telling you, he's an incredibly sweet little guy.

His favorite things include:
*Cozy beds and long naps.
*Blankets... especially after he's turned them into his own version of Swiss cheese.
*Treats. (He has yet to meet one he doesn't like!)
*Walks.
*Belly rubs, pets, and spending time with his people.

Teddy has completed basic obedience training and knows sit, down, stay, leave it, and walks nicely on a leash. He's very food motivated, loves to learn, and truly enjoys making his people happy.

Teddy is kennel trained, happily sleeps and eats in his kennel. He is currently being fostered in a dog daycare where he does great with the other dogs. (Unsure about cats)

Like many little dogs, Teddy does best with consistency, clear expectations, and loving boundaries. He would thrive with someone who appreciates a dog with a little spunk and has experience with spirited small breeds. Give Teddy a routine, a comfy blanket, and a pocket full of treats, and hell reward you with loyalty, laughs, and lots of love.

We recommend a family with children 12 years and older.

The best way to describe Teddy?

A tiny dog with BIG opinions, permanent teefs, and an unexpectedly long giraffe-sized neck.

If youre looking for a dog with a heart as big as his personality, Teddy is ready to steal your heart—and probably your favorite blanket, too.

Come meet Teddy... we have a feeling hell make you smile the moment you see those adorable little teefs.

Adopters must live within 75 miles of Racine, WI. Adoption fee is $300 plus a $100 deposit for mandatory training classes*. This radius is in place due to ongoing medical care we provide post-adoption.

All dogs are in foster care and are not located in our office.
