Teddy's Story

Teddy and siblings arrived to us in early November as orphans. They have adapted so well - and although we are sad they didn't have those extra weeks with their momma - we are very proud at how well they are growing & learning. They get excited at the sound of the vacuum and want to be on top of it! They are becoming curious about the cats and this morning all of them followed our big guy around the room. They love to play with toys but love boxes and plastic bottles even more. They are wonderful eaters and currently do well sharing their food and water. They love to be picked up and will climb into any available lap. They think shoelaces are for untying. They have met my youngest dog (50 lb. friendly male) and are curious about him...they would all likely do well with an older, friendly fur sibling to learn from. Here are a few more details:
Age - 6 weeks, available to leave once they are 8 weeks old (Nov. 29 weekend). We will pause adoptions on December 15 and feel strongly that pets are not gifts but should be viewed as a lifetime commitment.
Breed - Walker hound & Plott hound mixes. These are active breeds and would love a forever home that will work with their innate traits...scent work, tracking, agility, swimming. Although we are seeing a bit of variation in their activity levels, most of them will not do well as couch potatoes and all will require active homes and families committed to providing physical and mental stimulation.
Location - Chesterville/Morewood, ON. Available for adoption within the greater Ottawa and SD&G area.
Housing - detached homes with securely fenced yards are preferred. Hounds are known to follow their noses so a safe play area is essential.
They are currently on a deworming schedule and will have their first vet exam, first vaccine, parasite prevention and microchip before leaving. They will also be adopted on spay/neuter contracts.
