Taz's Story

Meet Taz

Taz is a 5-year-old, approximately 45-pound mix who has spent far too much of his life waiting for his person.

Taz came to us after being rescued from a terrible hoarding situation in Ensenada, Mexico, where he spent up to 23 hours a day confined to a crate. Understandably, that experience left him with significant anxiety surrounding crates and being left alone. But underneath all of that is an incredibly loving, loyal, and goofy dog who just wants to be close to his people.

A Chill Guy at Heart
Taz loves attention, playing with his toys, hanging out with his humans, and settling in for some quality couch time. He enjoys walks and getting outside, but he isnt a high-endurance dog and doesnt need someone looking for a running or hiking partner. Hes much happier enjoying life at a comfortable pace.

Dog Friendly + Playmate Approved
Taz really enjoys having a dog friend! Hes recently been playing a lot with another dog, and weve noticed him becoming more relaxed and comfortable as that relationship has grown. He can be a great playmate and would happily share his home with another compatible dog. A calm or moderately playful dog would be a great match for his energy.

That said, Taz does not need another dog in the home to be happy. He absolutely loves human attention and is perfectly content soaking up all the love for himself. Whether he ends up with a canine sibling or as your one and only, what matters most to Taz is having people of his own.

About the Crate
Taz does not love being crated, and we dont want to pretend that he does. Because of his history, confinement can still be difficult for him. He may bark or become anxious in the crate, and he has needed medication to help him settle. At the same time, he has made real progress. In a home environment, he has voluntarily gone into his crate on his own and has shown us that with patience, consistency, and continued training, he can keep building a healthier relationship with it.

His Ideal Home
Taz would thrive with someone who works from home or is home often, understands that his separation anxiety wont disappear overnight, and is willing to continue working with him rather than expecting perfection on day one.

After years in rescue, what Taz needs most isnt another kennel or sanctuary routine. He needs the opportunity to live in a home, build confidence, create a routine with his person, and finally show everyone the dog we know he can be.

Taz has been waiting long enough. He doesnt need a perfect home. He just needs someone willing to give him a real chance. My adoption fee is $200 and includes all my neuter/vaccines. Apply to meet me today thecantufoundation.org
