Taz's Story

Hi, I'm Taz! I'm a 5-year-old, approximately 45-pound mixed-breed boy with a big heart, a goofy personality, and so much love to give! I was rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation in Ensenada, Mexico,
where I spent up to 23 hours a day confined to a crate. Because of my
past, learning to feel safe and comfortable in a home has taken time, but I've been making incredible progress! After spending years in
rescue, I'm discovering how wonderful life can be with loving humans, a doggy best friend, and a cozy place to call my own. I'm ready to find my forever family and show them just how special I am!

Here's what makes me such a catch:

Loyal Lovebug – I adore my humans, love kids, and am happiest soaking
up attention, playing with toys, or enjoying some quality couch time.

Doggy Best Friend – I've formed an amazing bond with another dog, and
having a confident canine companion has helped me become more relaxed,
playful, and comfortable spending time without my humans.

Smart Cookie – I'm super food motivated, know sit, down, place, and
look, and thrive when I have a consistent routine and clear guidance.

Easygoing Adventure Buddy – I love car rides, enjoy walks with my newly polished loose-leash manners, and am always happy to trade adventure time for a relaxing afternoon at home.

I'm fully potty trained and have made huge strides in building my confidence! I can now calmly observe other dogs across the street, greet neighborhood pups with a wagging tail, and stay home without destructive behavior when I'm with my bonded doggy friend. Because of my history, I still struggle with some separation and crate anxiety, so I'll need someone patient who understands that progress takes time. I've even started voluntarily going into my crate, which is a big milestone for me! My dream home would have someone who works from home or is around often, provides structure and confident guidance, and ideally has another friendly, confident dog to help me continue blossoming. I do best with slow introductions to new dogs, and a cat-free home is a must. I don't need a super active lifestyle—just some daily walks, playtime, tasty treats, and plenty of love. Most importantly, I need someone who sees how far I've come and is excited to help me keep growing!

My adoption fee is $200, which covers my neuter and vaccinations. Do I
sound like the dog for you? You can fill out an application to adopt
me at http://www.thecantufoundation.org/adopt.html
