Tawny's smile won us over when we saw she needed rescue from a hoarding situation with an elderly owner in California. Ten dogs were locked in a home in unsanitary conditions and Tawny came right up to the rescuers to get love, attention and she really won them over as being an incredibly endearing dog despite the neglectful situation she was in. <br/><br/>Tawny's former owner overfed her and the other nine dogs living in the home so quite a few of them are obese and on a healthy weight loss journey. Tawny is about 15 pounds overweight at 70 pounds. She has been dropping the extra pounds through portion control and walks though and her success losing the extra pounds will be very straightforward for her future adopter. <br/><br/>- Approximately 6-7 years old and a young senior<br/><br/>- Australian Cattle Dog, possibly purebred. She does have a longer, natural tail.<br/><br/>- Gets along well with other dogs large and small. Ideally her future home would have a dog companion as Tawny does seem to like having another furry friend to hang out with. We think she has likely always lived with multiple dogs in the home and they give her companionship when her owner is not home. Ideally, we would love it if her future home had another nice male dog.<br/><br/>- Does excellent with cats and is fostered with two cats. Polite and doesn't bother the cats at all.<br/><br/>- Perfect potty habits so far in foster<br/><br/>- Enjoys her walks and is not reactive on leash<br/><br/>- Loads right into a vehicle and enjoys car rides<br/><br/>- An ideal home for Tawny would be one who is not gone super long work hours. Tawny has been a little anxious left home alone with no other dog present. She has been successful and done well with her crate in the main living room area of the home with another dog present. She will nap in the crate then. She may do better left out of a crate when home alone but we have not tested that yet since we always crate new foster dogs. <br/><br/>- Low energy dog who enjoys napping belly up. She could be happy with a walk a day as exercise. <br/><br/>Tawny is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm tested negative and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention.
