Tawny's Story

This stunningly beautiful girl is Tawny and she's a miniature Australian Shepherd and Border Collie mix. She's a 2-3 years old young and gentle lady who is fully grown at 32 pounds which makes her a perfect medium sized pup. She really is a special girl with amazing blue eyes and a beautiful coat. She asked us to tell you to ignore the bad haircut she got but promises she has the most beautiful coat when it grows in! :) She's a little timid when you first meet her but warms up quickly and loves to give and get attention. She's a mellow gal who loves to go for walks in the neighborhood and then take nice snoozes in her dog bed. You'll see in her video that she's mellow and walks so nicely on her leash. She's very friendly with everyone she meets and other dogs too. Her Foster Mom hasn't tested her with cats but will be doing that soon. She's a very sweet girl and we're looking for a loving forever family for her who will treasure her and spoil her with affection and treats every day. She's healthy, up to date on vaccinations, house-trained and crate trained too. If you're looking for a sweet and easy pup to join your family...Tawny may be your perfect girl! Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get lots more photos and videos of this sweet girl!

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes.   What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
