Tater's Story
MEET TATER 🐾

Tater is a handsome 1 1/2 year old, approx 55 lb, American Bulldog/American Staffordshire Terrier ready for his furever home through PAWS Rescue inc. Tater was rescued out of an over crowded shelter. He was set to be euthanized due to having pneumonia.

Tater is the definition of a people dog. He loves being close to his human and honestly doesn’t believe in personal space sometimes. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow, cuddle buddy, and best friend all wrapped into one handsome package, Tater is your guy.

He is completely house trained and sleeps great in a crate at night. While he may not have had much crate experience before coming into foster care, he’s learned quickly and now settles in well — even choosing to take daytime naps in there sometimes.

Tater is a very chill dog overall. He enjoys hanging out in the yard, especially if his person is outside with him. He’s not overly interested in playing with other dogs and would do best as the only dog in the home where he can soak up all the attention. Instead of wrestling with dog friends, Tater prefers a good chew bone or durable toy. Soft plush toys don’t survive long with this boy! 😂

Like many young bully breeds, Tater can still be mouthy at times and occasionally treats his human like a chew toy during play, so he’ll need continued guidance and training. He already knows “sit” and is currently working on “stay.” He’s smart, eager to connect with his people, and would thrive with consistency and structure.

Tater walks reasonably well on leash and is not a constant puller, though he still needs some polishing on leash manners. He rarely barks and tends to mirror the energy of his human — if you’re active, he’s happy to join in, but he’s equally content relaxing by your side.

He would likely do best with older children due to his strength and puppy-like enthusiasm. Experience with bully breeds would be a huge plus for helping him continue becoming the best version of himself.

Tater is affectionate, loyal, goofy, and full of personality. He’s looking for a home willing to invest time, patience, and love into helping him thrive — and in return, he’ll give you his whole heart. ❤️

*Fenced yard required*
