Tater's Story

Tater is the kind of dog who comes into a room with his whole heart first — wagging tail, goofy grin, and absolutely convinced you might be his new best friend. This strong, playful guy loves attention and isn’t shy about asking for it, happily climbing into laps for kisses and leaning into people for affection.

He’s energetic, silly, and full of personality. Toys are a favorite, especially if he can toss them around dramatically before inviting you to join the fun. During his assessment, Tater showed a loose, wiggly body, lots of play bows, and a very social, people-focused nature. He enjoys interaction and clearly thrives when he has exercise, enrichment, and someone to share life with.

Tater previously attended training classes and already has a nice foundation to build on. He’s very food motivated, eager to engage, and appears to enjoy learning. His former owner made the difficult decision to surrender him due to declining health and feeling they could no longer give Tater the activity and exercise he deserves.

When it comes to other dogs, Tater can get overly excited and enthusiastic in his greetings. He may enjoy some dog friends more than others, and slow, thoughtful introductions will help him be successful. Because of his strength and excitement level, he would likely do best with older or dog-savvy kids who won’t be easily knocked over during one of his happy "full-body wiggle" moments.

Tater is goofy, affectionate, playful, and clearly loves his people deeply. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will make you laugh, keep you active, and greet you every day like you’re the best thing he’s ever seen, Tater might be your guy.
