Tate is an 8-month-old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix weighing approximately 40 pounds. He is smart, athletic, affectionate and still very much a puppy.<br/><br/>Tate has spent the majority of his young life in the shelter. He recently had the opportunity to try life in a home, but ultimately it wasn't the right fit. As Tate settled in, his youthful energy became more than the resident dogs wanted to match, and he became increasingly focused on chasing the cat. His family worked on training with him, but recognized that the home simply wasn't the best match for everyone.<br/><br/>So Tate is back with us, and right now he's a little confused.<br/><br/>Tate is an intelligent young dog who wants to engage with his people and learns quickly. He has shown positive interest in other dogs, but his energy level and play style need to be considered when matching him with a canine companion. A dog who enjoys an active, playful youngster may be a much better fit than one who prefers a quieter life.<br/><br/>At 8 months old, Tate still needs what every adolescent dog needs: structure, consistency, training, appropriate outlets for his energy and someone willing to help him continue learning how to navigate the world. Because of his tendency to chase the cat in his previous home, a cat-free home would be the best choice for Tate.<br/><br/>There is so much good dog underneath all that teenage puppy brain. Tate doesn't need perfection.
