TANK-JJ (COMO, TEXAS)'s Story
Long distance transport can be discussed.

Tank is an approximately 8 years old as of Feb 2026, per the veterinarian’s guess and basically in his prime, just past teen stage. He is neutered, fully vaccinated and vaccinations kept current; also on HW prevention, flea and tick meds. He is HW negative. He is very energetic for his age. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate for 10 hours. If weather is good, he is happy to be out in the yard for exercise and stimulation. If weather is bad, he would just as soon be in his open wire crate. During the day he spends most of the day outside unless heat escalates. When he is in, the owner leaves him in the crate at all times after he is done eating, and has a potty break outside and if weather is good he prefers to stay outside. He has never intentionally been left out of the crate in the house, so we don’t know whether he is destructive or not. He has never been left unattended in the house. He travels in a car well and doesn’t resist going. He does know travel means veterinarian visits and like many if not most dogs that brings some unease. He is around other dogs without being reactionary at the vets and cooperates with the vet without sedatives or being muzzled. He has a little hunting drive but nothing excessive. No cats or small dogs. As for children, small children; we feel no children and will explain further below. READ ON !! He is not too motivated for toy play at all, he prefers human attention. He is food motivated and will train for food willingly. He is smart and cooperative and aims to please very much so. The people at the vets and boarding adore him. He is not food possessive. He is fed separately from other dogs which is the right dog thing to do. In summer’s heat he will cool off in a kiddie pool, but never interested in swimming in large bodies of water. He is not an excessive barker outside normally during daylight hours, and never barks indoors when crated, he loves his crate, crate, bed, toy all go with him, he will need them. His house if you will. He does alert normally if someone comes close to his territory but it is normal. Not an excessive yard barker unless there is a real reason or unless it is night and he is out, due to coyote activity which is extreme in their area he alerts. Any wild life during the day he would bark and give notice with barking to alert. Remember he is talkative and a participator in their life as he should be. On leash he is very cooperative, is not over reactive or a leash puller, unless he has to go look for a potty place. He is a very much a Velcro dog. He does love to be petted and fussed over. He talks to you, and it sounds like growling but it is just conversation. He is very outgoing and gregarious in personality thus his opinions are part of his personality. He is an adjuster to change and has proven that by the days he has had to be boarded long term at the veterinarians, whom he just vaguely knew by once a year visits. The reason for long term boarded was due to his owner’s husband having a massive stroke and being in a coma for three months and then rehab, so it was almost four months. This is the only reason their dogs are being rehomed at all. It is imperative that Tank along with his cohort Tigger, find a foster or adopter. Tigger also is looking for a new home but because littermates often times get along sporadically due to competitive interactions vying for attention, it is best they be separated. Tank has been with another male dog that is very mellow and did fine with him, but we feel Tank would do best with a non bossy run easy older female that is a companion without being a steamboat of energy. He would play moderately and reasonably with a good natured dog. He still would need bonding time with a dog more than with humans. With humans he is very quick to bond. But remember he has been in his home for 8 years. So he will need comfort and time to adjust possibly. We are trying to guess how this could play out. JCLDR will be the person to call if there is help needed with adjustments. We do this all the time when needed for as long as we are needed. In fact we are asking at this time for a totally committed FOSTER that will care for this dog under our rescue for the remaining years of his life or a rock solid adopter that is going to give him whatever years he has left. Dog’s his age with good care like he has been given can have a longer life span than the guesstimated 12 years for his size and breed. At 8 we do not consider him a senior.. not until they are 10 do we consider they have reached the early boundary of the senior journey. He is in good shape and normal for most 8 year old Catahoulas. Tank is located near Sulpher Springs Texas. Please read through his FULL BIO. WE WANT COMMITMENT AND TANK NEEDS IT. He has done nothing to warrant losing his home. It is definitely dire human health issues that is critical which is forcing the female of the family to rehome him. The husband who needs 24/7 extensive care from the wife is 82, and she has health issues herself. This is critical for the dogs that they be re-homed. This would be a shame for these two good dogs to be euthanized due to this situation. The family is grieving over this as well as their own emergency. PLEASE HELP US GIVE THEM THE LAST YEARS THEY DESERVE.. SHARE AND SHARE AND CALL JANEEN IMMEDIATELY IF YOU CAN HELP. 406-323-3519 ANY HOUR. We are scrambling to place them right away. The owners need relief and will have to at some point end their journey if no one wants to help.

HISTORY: Tank showed up at the owners gate about 8 years ago as a puppy. He was starving, ribs showing, the family he is with now, took him in and fed him small meals until he could handle normal amounts. He was taken to the veterinarian and had a thorough test and got wormings and vaccinations. When he was about 6 to 8 months old he was neutered and he went on HW prevention of and flea and ticks (Bravecto) To date he has tested negative and been covered with these preventions. He has never had any serious health concerns show up since they had him. He to date has never been overweight, is exercised daily.

GOOD: He is loyal and protective properly and warm towards his family and is not a problem dog whatsoever except for the health issues that have forced this. He is just a great dog all the way around. Deserves whatever time we can give him.

BAD: Only bad thing is that he is excessive white and has a slight normal Catahoula double merle gene slight defect in his peripheral vision. Which is common in our breed and shows up off and on. So he accidentally did not see well enough to avoid a 3 year old’s approach and he accidentally ran into the child. Grandson was running and Tank ran towards him and it was probably in play and it knocked the child down. No harm done except scared everyone including Tank. No intent or any viciousness or bite. No children because of that.. He deserves the older years without dealing with over stimulation. This is not a major health issued at all but we just want to keep all safe and secure.

UGLY: There just is no ugly about this dog. No bite incident or anything to disclose. Tank is not over reactive to humans except to normally alert on a stranger and they are invited in.
