Tank's Story

Hi! My name is Tank! Im a handsome beefcake of a puppy, and at just over 2 years old Im a solid 70 lbs, but my foster fam is getting me a bit trimmer.

As I mentioned, Im still a bit of a puppy and I still have some puppy habits my foster family is working on. I can be a little play rough and sometimes think everyone (but mostly my foster dad) wants to be tackled! Im more gentle with my foster mom and human sister, but we are working on not being so jumpy and rough. When I want some love, I do sit nicely and wait for pets, I just get a little excited and dont always know what to do when I am getting pets. I love a good belly scratch! I have very expressive eyes especially when Im excited.

I LOVE exploring. I have a long lead when I go outside and sometimes I like to go on adventures to the other parts of the yard, so I would probably love a fenced in yard. I dont bark, but I will hang out by the door when I have to go. My foster family is using a bell for me to let them know I need to go outside. I do have a pretty consistent post-meal potty routine! When Im outside, I know what to do! I have a few toys, and Im getting better at entertaining myself while foster mom works during the day. I play a little tug, enjoy chewing on semi-soft toys, and bones.

Im NOT a fan of grooming! But Im working on it When I came in, I had a terrible tail infection, and it was so painful I wouldnt let anyone touch it! This made me very cranky about getting it cleaned up. But Im feeling better now and tolerate it a lot more than I did before! My foster fam has a system that involves lots of treats, sweet talk, and more treats when Im done. And I let them know when Im finished tolerating it. This works for me!

If youre on the couch and looking for a buddy Im down for that! But I may need a hand getting up there Im confident, but clumsy! Once Im there, Ill sit next to you if you scratch my belly and keep the scratches coming. Im still learning about this thing called personal space, so I may stand myself awkwardly across your lap. And I will ALWAYS protect you from the dogs in the windows and mirrors theres a handsome one that just KEEPS following me everywhere I go! How annoying!

I sleep in a kennel at night and am kenneled if everyone is gone from the house. It took me a minute to get used to being free range without supervision, but if the things Im not supposed to have are put away, Im surprisingly good at it. Thats not to say I dont get into things Im not supposed to have, so when in doubt, Im comfortable hanging in my kennel with some safe toys. I live with two canine foster siblings. They see me, but we havent mingled yet, since my tail was so sore my foster fam didnt want any accidental bumps or scratches that would make me mad. When they see me, we exchange barks and then Im over it.

I have only been around big (13+ yrs old) kids, and thats safest for me. I am young, a bit jumpy, and sometimes think Im a linebacker so littles might get knocked over. Im not a huge fan of loud noises they make me run in the other direction foster mom found that out the hard way on my recent walk! Speaking of walks, foster mom is trying to get me to walk a little further each time, but walking is not my thing. I can be convinced with some treats, but I still dont get far. Im decent on the leash, until Ive decided Im finished. Then Im a big guy that wont budge. Guess thats why they call me Tank!

Please visit our website www.ebullymatch.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.

Chicago English Bulldog Rescue's Adoption Policy
ADOPTION TAKES THOUGHT AND PATIENCE. We know you are excited about the thought of getting a bully. But before you make this decision, we ask that you have done the following: Spoken with all members of your household and come to mutual agreement. Discussed the new addition with your home owner's association or landlord if applicable. Experienced the breed yourself. If you do not currently have a bully family member, we ask that you attend one of our CEBR events before applying. Double check our Adoption Area Map to be sure you are in our range. Save up! Bullies are not an inexpensive breed and having a solid savings account that has an emergency fund is essential. Rescue bullies are also not a way to get a "cheap bully." Often times rescue bullies end up costing more in upkeep than a bully purchased from a breeder.
