Tahoe's Story
Meet Tahoe
Location: Cabot, AR

Tahoe is a sweet, silly, affectionate Great Dane/Labrador Retriever mix puppy with a big personality and an even bigger love for his people. He is playful, curious, and always ready to be involved in whatever is happening around him.
Tahoe loves wrestling, running, playing tug, chasing his tennis ball, and having a good play session with the human kids in his foster home. Once he's worn himself out, he is happiest curled up beside you or in your lap, giving kisses and soaking up affection.

He has a particularly adorable morning routine. Before he'll head into the grass to potty, Tahoe insists on getting a kiss from his foster. He also has some impressive puppy zoomies, although his legs have not quite figured out how to coordinate yet. His zoomies often involve tumbling, sliding, and the occasional puppy cartwheel.

Tahoe is learning his manners and already knows "sit," "inside," "outside," and "go to bed." He is working on "come" and learning to use a potty doorbell. He is crate trained and does well with nail trims, happily sitting in someone's lap and watching the process.

As with any puppy, Tahoe is still a work in progress. He is sometimes housetrained but will have occasional accidents, especially during bad weather. He is also a typical puppy who likes to chew, so shoes, cords, and other tempting items need to be kept safely out of reach. He will need multiple walks and plenty of mental and physical stimulation each day to keep his growing puppy brain appropriately occupied.

Tahoe has lived successfully with a large, young Dane/Lab mix and loves having a big dog friend to wrestle and race around with. He would enjoy a home with another dog his size or larger who is tolerant of puppy play. He does not do well with small dogs and tends to play too roughly for them.

Tahoe does well with a dog-savvy cat. He may try to engage the cat in play, but he is easily redirected and respects her when she walks away. With continued supervision and training, he could do well with a confident, dog-friendly cat.

He has lived with children ages 10 and 15 and loves playing chase, tug, and cuddling with them. Because he is still a mouthy, energetic puppy, older children who understand puppy behavior and can participate appropriately in his training would be the best fit. Babies and toddlers would not be recommended unless they could be very closely supervised.

Tahoe has never met a stranger he didn't want to greet. He is friendly with both men and women and loves attention from neighbors, veterinary staff, and everyone else he meets. Continued socialization will be important as he matures and enters the typical "stranger danger" phase.

Tahoe is still learning to feel comfortable on a leash and currently thinks the leash is something of a snake that may attack him. His foster family is working patiently on this. He is also becoming more comfortable with car rides. He can ride in a crate or on a person's lap and is gradually building his tolerance for longer trips. Pup cups are certainly helping.

Because of his coat, Tahoe can get warm in the sun, so his future home should provide plenty of shade, fresh water, and a cool place to rest.

The ideal home for Tahoe will be moderately active and ready for the time, patience, training, and supervision a growing large-breed puppy requires. A large canine companion would be a wonderful addition, and a family with older, puppy-savvy children would be an excellent match.

Most importantly, Tahoe wants people who will include him in their lives. He is a classic Great Dane in that regard—he firmly believes he should participate in every activity, whether his assistance is actually required or not.

If you're looking for a loving, goofy companion who will keep you laughing, keep you moving, and then happily curl up beside you at the end of the day, Tahoe may be the perfect addition to your family.

Apply to adopt Tahoe:

https://linktr.ee/Srgdrr

We adopt nationwide.
