MEET SYLVESTER (Descriptor: Athletic)
This stunning ~1.75 year old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix is 58 lbs of fun. He is a loving and lovable guy who will bond to his person(s) quickly then follow you around with his big brown and part-blue puppy dog eyes. Sylvester has an amazing 'sit,' he's nailed 'down,' and is close on 'drop it' (which is good because he loves to pick up things he shouldn't, see more below) and is very treat motivated and trainable.
Sylvester loves other dogs. He takes cues well and will leave a dog alone who doesn't want to play. Sylvester has lived successfully with dogs of all sexes and sizes, cats and finds sheep, goats, and horses to be fascinating. He does well in the car, is perfectly house broken, and is crate trained, although he would much prefer to sleep with you. He takes his job of man-of-the-house seriously and will let you know when a package is being delivered or the garbage is being carted off. He is also willing to fend off any and all bumps in the night, but settles quickly after the danger has passed. Sylvester loves his chew toys and hasn't taken his habit to shoes or furniture.
He is still a young dog with lots of get-up-and-go, so an active home or one with a fenced yard and non-destructible toys would be ideal for his activity level. He would also enjoy being your running partner (if that's your thing), and he has the most adorable gait. He is working on not jumping on people when he meets them, but his love for life gets the better of him at times. Sylvester turns into a playful puppy when he's happy and uses his mouth to play. He sometimes likes to pick up objects he finds (like plastic bits, water bottle caps, and small childrens' toys). Because of these behaviors, Sylvester should go to a home with children over the age of 10.
