*PLEASE NOTE: We do not adopt out on a first-come/first-serve basis. Applications are accepted for a puppy and then a home check is scheduled. If there are multiple applications for a puppy, after all home checks are done, then the puppy is adopted out to the home that is the best fit for that puppy.

Hi, my name is Swizzle! I am an adorable Dachshund mix weighing in around 10-13 pounds. My sister and I came from Alabama to find our furever homes and she has moved onto hers’s and now it is my turn to find mine! If you ask my foster mom, she will tell you that I am a sweetheart. I can be shy at first, but once I warm up to you, you will be my person! I am looking for a quiet home without a lot of visitors because I am shy around strangers. If you ask me, I am a great companion dog and will lay in my bed (next to you) all day and entertain myself while you’re working from home. I love playing with soft toys and am a GREAT walker on a leash. I even know how to heel! I love treats and get very excited to go outside. My goofy personality really comes out when I see my foster mom grab a leash. I get very excited and show you how high I can jump. I am a little bit of an explorer if left to roam. I can be a bit naughty when left on my own, you will probably have to crate me until I can be trusted. I know how to heel. I am looking for a home with patience while I get comfortable, lots of love, and some time to work on training with me so I can be your new best friend! If you would like to meet me, please fill out a pre-adoption application and a CDR volunteer will get back to you just as quick as they can!

**The ADOPTION FEE for this pet is $450 which includes getting the puppy/dog up to date on rabies, distemper and bordetella vaccines, fecal test and deworming if necessary, heartworm test, spay or neuter (not including pre-surgical bloodwork) and a microchip. Free access to our weekly training classes is also included for the life of the dog, something no other rescue in the area offers.***
