Meet Sweet Tea
Sweet Tea recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what her DDO buddy had to say!
1st DDO:
"Sweet Tea was amazing today! The sweetest girl to ever exist. She did INCREDIBLE in the car - just laid right down and looked out the window. We even had a fire truck pass and no reaction! She's still pretty timid, but much more confident than the last time I saw her. Takes treats so gently and kindly. She did great walking around campus and saying hi to people. Non reactive to dogs AND cats. 10/10 girl"
2nd DDO:
"Her name is Sweet Tea, but we ended up calling her Sweetie or Sweetpea because they just seemed to suit her so well. This gorgeous girl (with one blue and one brown eye) is a four-year-old, short-haired mixed breed spayed female. She's almost 60 pounds. We didn't let a little rain stop us from enjoying a grand Dog's Day Out:
-She was pretty laid back about leaving the shelter, and jumped right up into the backseat. She likes to ride quietly sitting and sometimes lying down.
-In Sweet Tea's opinion, a walk is something you do between sniff spots! She loves to walk with her nose to the ground, sniffing everything and anything along the way: trees, posts, grass, you name it! You can easily redirect her and she will resume the walk - that is until the next irresistible scent crosses her path!
-Very well behaved in public places. Of course, she loved to sniff the aisles and toys in the pet store, but never grabbed or pulled. She takes treats very gently.
-At home she enjoyed a nice hour-long nap snuggled in my lap on the couch. Then she had a grand time (see photos) playing with a fuzzy toy octopus. She plays catch with herself by tossing the toy in the air and catching it!
-At the end of our rainy day out, we stopped for lattes and a puppuccino, which she thoroughly enjoyed."
As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.
