Summit is both deaf and visually impaired, so he experiences life through touch, scent, routine, and connection — and he leans into people with a sweetness that is impossible not to feel.<br/><br/>He doesn’t navigate the world the typical puppy way… he maps it. Every step is thoughtful. Every gentle hand is meaningful. And once he trusts you, you become his safe place.<br/><br/>Summit will need a secure fenced yard so he can safely explore and build confidence. A special-needs background is not required — just a patient person willing to learn alongside him.<br/><br/><br/>Dogs like Summit learn differently, but they absolutely learn. His adopter will teach him through touch cues, scent, and positive reinforcement.<br/><br/>He will benefit from:<br/>Touch & tactile cues<br/>Gentle taps to get attention<br/>Hand-over-hand guidance to teach positions<br/>Physical signals for “step up,” “step down,” and direction changes<br/>Reward marker training<br/>A consistent touch marker (like a tap followed by a treat) replaces verbal praise<br/>Short, fun sessions with high-value treats build understanding<br/>Environmental mapping & safety<br/>Time to memorize the layout of the home<br/>Baby gates and safe boundaries prevent injury<br/>Repetition creates communication<br/><br/>Summit won’t hear “good boy.”<br/>He won’t see you across the yard.<br/><br/>But he will feel safety in your footsteps, learn your patterns, and love you in a way that is deeply intentional. These dogs don’t love casually — they love with total trust.<br/><br/>If you’re willing to guide instead of command, and teach instead of expect, Summit will climb straight into your heart and stay there.<br/><br/>The adoption fee includes a spay/neuter at our vet at the time your vet indicates it is appropriate.<br/><br/>ADOPTION FEE: $350<br/><br/>To adopt the FIRST STEP is to complete an APPLICATION at fluffydog.net<br/><br/>Adopters must be 24 years of age. We can not adopt to families with children under the age of six. We also only adopt in WI, IL, and parts of MN. We do not guarantee dog breeds.<br/>WI License #270548.
