I’m a sweet, mellow, low-maintenance friend who longs for a quiet routine with a loving family all my own. I’m an easy dog in so many ways...I won’t ask for much, I don’t require constant attention, and I’m super easy to fall in love with. I’m just a really nice companion who is happy to join you for leisurely walks, while spending the rest of the day lounging around the house. If that life sounds good to you, too, I hope you will consider adopting me and making my dreams come true. <br/><br/>I’m an adorable, 6-year-old, 90-pound Pointer mix, with gentle eyes, the sweetest face, and an unassuming, well-mannered, delightful personality. I’m even already fully housebroken. I’ve been diligently working on losing some weight, and I hope you will continue to help me out with that, by providing me with healthy, nutritious food and daily light exercise. I first came to Wayside 5 years ago, and I was adopted. Sadly, I’m homeless once again and looking for another chance at the happy, carefree life that I deserve. It felt so lonely and stressful to be back at the shelter. Lucky for me, Foster Dad showed up at just the right time. He took me home, and he makes me feel special and loved. Ah, I can finally relax. And it feels so good. <br/><br/>I settled in quickly and made myself right at home. Foster Dad lets me take life at my own pace, which has helped to put me at ease. He loves my laidback, agreeable style and says that I’m so easy to live with. I have perfect house manners, even when he’s not home. I’m content to be a couch potato, napping on my dog bed in the living room while he’s at work, and I don’t bother a thing. I peacefully sleep through the night on my dog bed without making a peep. I’m quiet and gentle and calm. I’m not interested in cuddling or snuggling, but I like knowing that Foster Dad is nearby, and I enjoy his company while sitting up close to him, leaning in for lots of pets and affection. I don’t bark or jump up or make a fuss when his mom stops by, but I let her pet me, which seems to make her happy. I’ve learned that it’s comforting for most people to gently pet a dog like me, and it feels good to me, too. <br/><br/>Because of my weight issue, I don’t get around that well, but I love going for short walks with Foster Dad several times a day. I keep a nice pace for 20 minutes or so each morning, after work, and at night. I love to stop and smell all the great smells along the way. I walk well on my leash, especially when I use my harness, but I do pull at times if I spot a squirrel or bunny. I am a Pointer, after all, and we have strong noses and bodies. I ignore barking dogs that we might encounter along the way, happy to just keep walking. I like to direct the route we take during our walks, and if Foster Dad chooses a different way, I will plant my feet, put my head down, and wait for him to follow my lead. Yes, I can be set in my ways at times. We also have a small fenced yard where I like to sniff and explore, but I never stay out for long, especially when it’s hot outside. <br/><br/>I will need a home as your only dog. I just don’t enjoy their company, and they make me uncomfortable. Not to worry, though, I promise that I will be enough. While I love my people, I don’t really enjoy being hugged or doted on, so I’ll need to meet any children under the age of 10, to make sure that we’re a good match for each other. Stairs and long walks are difficult for me, so please keep that in mind. I need a home with few or no stairs. Mostly, I hope to find a quiet and calm home where I can peacefully chill and just simply hang out with you. <br/><br/>I’ve learned that life is so unpredictable, and it rarely goes as planned. I had a tough start before getting rescued by the ASPCA all those years ago. And then my weight gain in my first home created a challenge for me. Now things are in order, and I’m ready for my next chapter to begin. I’m ready to live a safe and peaceful life as your beloved dog. I’m ready to start making memories together. And I’m ready to always be there for you whenever you might need me. I can’t wait to get started.<br/><br/>Love, Summer
