She is a princess and we are all living in her kingdom!

Sugar is a 9 lb Yorkie mix who we believe is between 6-8 years old. She thrives from attention, belly rubs, and laying around on the couch. In fact, sometimes she forgets there is a world beyond the couch.

When this low-energy love bug first arrives in your home, she will want to be wherever you go and will seem to be perfectly comfortable finding a new throne of blankets to lay upon. However, you will see that over time she will blossom even more, as she starts to sleep upside down like an adorable zombie and will take fewer minutes outside to go potty. She will snuggle up right next to you, but still needs just a little personal space -- she is not a lap dog.

Once you bring out her leash, she couldn't be more excited to go outside! She is very good on a leash and loves long walks. She very much prefers the sidewalk as opposed to the grass, and her little tippy tappies will keep you company. If she does start to run, it's probably because she saw a squirrel or bunny that she must investigate. Otherwise, Sugar doesn't need a lot in terms of playing. She doesn't really get the big deal about toys.

Her only health concern so far is her teeth: she may end up being a toothless pup soon, which is all the more adorable but will require soft food only. She isn't particularly food motivated (prefers praise, of course), so she can live with or without treats. Sugar sometimes needs to be reminded to eat, so her future family may need to give her a little extra love depending on the day.

Sugar is hoping for a forever family who loves getting licks, who has a couch that gets licks, and has blankets that get licks. Her dream home would probably be with someone who is retired/WFH, just to give her all the more time for attention, and to hopefully avoid accidents (semi-frequent) and kennel time. She doesn't care how big the home is -- she just wants to be with you! Because of that, she does not enjoy sleeping where she can't see her humans, or being alone in her kennel. She is scared of her kennel but will eventually soothe herself to sleep. We aren't sure of her history with other dogs, cats or young kids, but she is very well-behaved and curious for new experiences.

Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 90-mile radius of Minneapolis; however, we will consider up to 250 miles if the applicant is willing to drive to cities as needed.
