SUGAR AND MUNCHKIN’S AMAZING TRANSFORMATION – THEY ARE READY TO SHARE THEIR LOVE AND LIFE WITH YOU. <br/><br/>They are being fostered in The Villages, Florida<br/><br/>Sugar, a beautiful six-year-old Bichon, and Munchkin, a wonderful thirteen-year-old mixed heritage girl, are a deeply bonded pair. They have weathered many life challenges together, find comfort in each other’s presence and must be adopted together.<br/><br/>Munchkin is a curious, outgoing 11.5 lb. sweetheart. Affectionately nicknamed the Warrior Princess by her foster family, she approaches life with bravery, joy and an open heart. At 13, she is slowing down a bit and has some arthritis in her legs, but her spirit remains bright. She is fiercely independent and is a loving big sister, surrogate mother and protector for Sugar. If she senses that Sugar is nervous, she will stay right beside her. She enjoys socializing on walks and is not above stealing an occasional sock from foster Dad or coaxing treats from a friendly neighbor – all part of her delightful personality.<br/><br/>Sugar, the adorable 13.9 lb. six-year-old Bichon, was raised to be afraid of people and dogs and is taking longer to overcome a difficult past. She no longer ducks when her foster family pets her or picks her up and has booped noses with a couple of gentle dogs on morning walks. She wants to meet both people and dogs, but most often stops herself. Sugar is happiest in the quiet backyard where she can explore to her heart's content. She also likes to make dens for herself -- under the bed or under a desk, where she feels safest. Sugar is a true lap dog and loves to be still and close to a trusted human. She enjoys the comfort and safety of sleeping in a crate at night, while Munchkin is happiest on the big bed with her human companions. Like Munchkin, Sugar enjoys playing with her stuffies and will often toss them up in the air just so she can chase them herself. Sugar loves her zoomies and delighting her trusted human companions.<br/><br/>Both girls have become proficient at taking the occasional pill, cooperate readily with having their teeth brushed, and are very good at the groomer’s. They do love attention -- brushing, petting -- any kind of evidence that they are loved and cared for.<br/><br/>Thanks to their amazing foster parents, both girls have blossomed. After years in less‑than‑ideal conditions, they are becoming content, stable, and happy dogs. Both now adore their comfy dog beds and relish the security of family life. Sugar continues to gain confidence around other dogs, and both girls are thriving emotionally.<br/><br/>Sugar and Munchkin are spayed, UTD on vaccinations, and fully vetted. Both pups are earning A’s in their housetraining. They have had no recent exposure to cats. We think a quiet, adult home would be best for now. Children over the age of 12 who would treat them gently and respect their boundaries might be a plus. A home with a fenced-in backyard where they would feel safe and could run around together would be wonderful.<br/><br/>Most importantly, they need a family who understands that they are not perfect — but who sees their beauty, resilience, and capacity for love. With patience, consistency, and kindness, they will continue to heal. In return, they will respond with kisses on the nose or hand, snuggles on the couch and the kind of loyalty that arises in loving relationships.
