He's playful, cuddly, house-trained, and loves spending time with his people. He gets along well with other dogs and respectful children, and is ready to become someone's devoted companion.<br/><br/>Sugar Bear has a torn ACL and will need TPLO surgery before he can return to his active, playful self. Because Animals Matter will cover the cost of his surgery, and we're looking for a local adopter willing to foster him through his recovery before his adoption is finalized.<br/><br/>Recovery from TPLO surgery requires patience and commitment. For approximately eight weeks, Sugar Bear's activity will need to be carefully restricted to allow proper healing. He'll need a calm home where running, jumping, and rough play are avoided while gradually reintroducing controlled exercise as he heals. At just 16 pounds, he can easily be carried outside for potty breaks when needed. BAM will provide guidance and support throughout his recovery, so you won't be navigating the process alone.<br/><br/>Because of the follow-up care required, Sugar Bear is available locally only as a foster-to-adopt in the Hurricane/Washington County area. Once he's fully healed, his adoption will become official.<br/><br/>Like any young dog, Sugar Bear will benefit from continued training, structure, and positive experiences as he grows into the wonderful companion he's meant to be.
