Sugar

Picked up as a stray, neglected, scared, one-eyed, ole lady, found herself at the Tulare shelter. We lovingly named her Sugar because she is soooooo sweet. Immediately got her into the vet to assess her condition; she has been neglected for some time (hair matted, underweight, skin irritation needing meds, & nails curled all the way around so that they overlapped ). She got meds for her skin. She is hard of hearing. Heart is a tad weak (normal for her age; est. 8-yrs old) but no murmur. Her back-end is a little weak (vet thinks an old injury or a newer one that is still healing). Might have mild Degenerative Back Disease. Doesn’t slow her down one bit. She gets all frisky before & after meals & when you get home. She is sweet as Sugar & enjoys cuddling up in her beds & blankets & with her humans. <br/><br/>*approx. 8-years young (est. dob 12/2/2014)<br/>*11-lbs now but should be about 12-13 pounds<br/>*spayed<br/>*microchipped<br/>*dental done 12/21/2022<br/>*vaccinations are up to date (including her rabies)<br/>*hard of hearing<br/>*one working eye. The other eye is atrophied & non-functional. It weeps a bit (just like a normal eye would), so needs cleaning like the other eye.<br/>*good eye is a little foggy but she can see fine<br/>*working on house-training (she wont go if she is wearing her diapers). Update- doggy door trained & hasn't had an accident in the house for a significant amount of time.<br/>*learned to use the doggy-door<br/>*VERY treat motivated<br/>*did GREAT with grooming (bath, nails, trimmed hair). She obviously was groomed before.<br/>*follows you around<br/>*great appetite<br/>*great with other small dogs & our big dogs<br/>*good with cats<br/>*crate training in progress & she is doing REALLY well<br/>*traveled well in the car (had her tethered)<br/>*looking for her very own human to stalk & snuggle
