Sugar Golden Retriever & Great Pyrenees Mix New Orleans, LA

Sugar is a sweet and playful dog estimated to be around two years old. She is friendly and loves children, but may be more comfortable with older kids. She loves to hug and corrects easily with verbal command. Even though she was found as a stray, she is great with cats, chickens and turkeys. If the other dog isn’t a threat and they want to play, she is ready! Having lived on the streets and probably felt the pangs of hunger, she tends to hide or bury her food. She can be timid and flinch at sudden movements, but once she trusts someone, she becomes very loyal and affectionate. Sugar is also still learning to walk on a leash and may seek comfort from her human companion if she feels scared. She is a beautiful dog with a loving personality and will be a wonderful addition to a sweet and special family.

Sugar is 60lbs, spayed, up to date on vaccines and undergoing heartworm treatment but is doing amazing!

This dog is ready for her forever home!

An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information.

2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals:
Puppies under 12 months - $350
Dogs over 12 months - $250


*Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
