Meet Stewie Nov 23

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.

A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.

Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known.

Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list.

thanks
the CPR Adoption team

Date into Rescue: 11/3/2023
Reason for being in rescue: Stewie was transferred from another rescue group. He was originally from a hoarding situation.
Foster location: Stewie resides in foster home near the rescue.
Special Needs? Stewie absolutely needs another dog in his home, he will not be placed into a home without a dog.
Weight: 48 lbs and growing - we expect Stewie will be 55-60 lbs when full grown
Height: 20 in and growing - we expect Stewie will be 24" when full grown
Spayed/Neutered: Yes, Stewie was neutered on 12/15/23

Adoption Fee: $599

Fence needed? Yes, Stewie requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller.

What kind of home would be best for me? Stewie is looking for a patient and understanding home. Stewie must have another dog in his home, he relies on happy playful dogs. Stewie wants a home with young adults, his foster mom is in her early 20s and this seems to be Stewie's preference on people. A more mature couple would be fine as well as long as Stewie's active needs are met. He takes to women faster than men. Stewie wants a home with no cats as chasing cats is very fun for him. He can live with small dogs as he currently does. Truthfully, the more dogs you have in your home, the happier Stewie will be. Stewie's perfect home will need to love him quirks and all.

What is my personality like? Stewie is the most loving and affectionate with his foster. He bounces around his foster mom's feet and is always looking for her. If you were watching Stewie through a TV screen with his foster mom, you would think he is a well adjusted dog. And he is, in his foster home. Stewie relies on his foster mom as a security blanket. He adores her and is truly convinced he has found his forever home. Us humans in the rescue world have to look at the full picture, fostering is about saving one life at a time so we can save hundreds over time. Someone will need to commit to coming to meet Stewie and know that you will have to break his heart this one time so YOU can be his happily ever after. We know Stewie bonds hard once he bonds. Stewie has the potential to be someone's very best companion if they can just give him appropriate time to settle and learn about his new life.

Stewie is leash trained, off leash trained (with foster mom), crate trained, mostly house trained, and is working on basic commands. He's smart and inquisitive, Stewie is young and ready to learn as much as he can.

How do I act when I first meet new people? Anti social and frantic, give him time and he will settle. You should expect a fairly long meet and greet if you apply to adopt Stewie.

Other tips and tidbits: Stewie is estimated at 8 months old. We celebrate his birthday 5/29/2023.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.

Thank you for considering CPR.
